Sten, because he doesn't try to shoehorn "sodding" into every one of his lines whether or not it makes sense in tone or grammatically

I'd also say Sten, because he could Palm Oghren's face and pick him up with one hand while Oghren is swinging wildly and never connecting. Reminds me of old Cartoons.

For Sten:
-Height
-A huge strength bonus
-Brevity
-Likes cookies
For Oghren:
-Beard
-Two specialization points
-Hits on Wynne
-Drunkenness
I sorta wonder if anyone has seen any banter between them, since they're both 2h warrior there's little reason to have both in the group at once.

Ohgren because he is funny and gets 2 specializations instead of 1. Plus his beard is awesome.

Sten: Dwarf! Stop tripping me!
Oghren: Stop tripping yourself!
Sten: If you were significant enough to notice, I wouldn't trip on you.
Oghren: Well, uh...your mother!
Sten: That was disappointing.
Oghren: Sorry. I was in a rush.

Actually, i had both of them in my party at once (PC-tank, Sten, Oghren, Shale) and yes, there is banter.
It's not complete comedy gold all the time, but fairly entertaining, especially with Shale somewhat "balancing" their characters (If you can speak of balancing in case of just another opinion on how to crush things). However, i guess Oghren can only really shine with Wynne, while Sten only can with Leliana.
Still i liked my group

I pick Sten because he's a big softy.

I plan on running with both. It will be more challenging having 2 melee in a party rather than 2 mages. But I'm well versed enough with the combat to get away with one mage. I don't want to take Morrigan with me every damn time. I'm still trying to avoid bumping it down to easy for the tough fights, however. So far I haven't had to do that.
I'd like to keep shale, but I hear he leaves you if you side with Branka which I plan on doing this run thru.
Sten is my tank. It's taking a while to get his sword/shield talents up to par. He was a bit weak at first. Everything was into strength, and he had no dext or const.
It takes a while to make him into a tank.

Oghren all the way. Sten is pretty much a poor man's Oghren to me with one less specialization and no dwarf resistance.

Sten shines with Morrigan in the group, too. And Zevran.

Both.
And Shale...
Yes, they are the ultimate trio, spiced up with a little Wynne and Zevran from time to time.

I like them both... but Oghren has shown a new side of the word "epic" that I never thought existed. He's the belch of epicness. Oghren wins again!

Oghren is funny for five minutes, and becomes annoying and boring afterward. He swears and drink and... well, that's about it. Don't really care for him.
So, obviously, Sten wins handily.

Oghren's lack of class is pure gold.

Oghren for me because I don't live in fear of selling his old sword which is just sitting in my inventory taking up precious space…

those 2 are by far the 2 best characters in the game if u ask me... asking people to choose one over the other should be criminal....

Having thought mistakenly I had to take Oghren through the deep roads to find the anvil I can't stand the dwarf. He is like a healing leech making it far more difficult to get through without any party deaths and often not overly useful. As Such I would opt for Sten but I seldom use him either as I don't find two handed overly useful DW just seems to deliver so much more damage.

It makes me sad that, due to the class balance in the game, I'll hear almost everything Wynne and Morrigan have to say before I get near enough of these two.
(The fact my first character was a 2h warrior, and thus I had little reason to ever bring either, makes it that much worse. If only I had gone dw, but it was my first character and I didn't know any better...)
Dog, who, as the wisest companion, seems like a logical in-game person to consult about this dilemma, also seems torn. He clearly has a special relationship with both.
Sten: You are a true warrior, worthy of respect.
Dog: (barks)
Oghren: The dog stole my pants!
PC: But Oghren, you're wearing your pants!
Oghren: The DOG doesn't know that! (passes out)
