I think it's smaller. It seems like the enemies surround you more quickly there. I have no problem with one turret, but when there's a turret at every turn, a couple of phantoms, and a horde of guardians coming toward you, things get pretty tough.
Is it just me, or is Firebase White (Noveria) harder than the other?

Not smaller, just more open. In fact, I think White is actually larger than Ghost, but the openness makes it seem smaller.

I personally find Firebase Ghost much more awkward than Firebase White.
Ghost actually really annoys me, too much up & down, oddly faced cover, haphazardly positioned rooms.
White makes more sense to me logically, I can find appropriate cover where I need it much easier & track what's going on with some nifty camera movement.

I prefer Firebase White. A lot easier to kill Phantoms and there's too much random cover and things blocking everything on Firebase Ghost.

It's a slightly more complex map than the other one. Like you said, it's easier to get flanked, and harder to run away and hide when in trouble.
The ghost map is much more straight forward. You can run around in a circle and almost always have enough cover to survive. There are also easier escape paths because of it's simpler overall design.

It's easier for me.
Protip: when you move around always go trough inside the base, not outside, you just get shot from everywhere.

I have always though White to be the easier of the two. Less paths of approach for enemies and more choke points to bottle them up.

Noveria is actually much easier because you can hold up in the room opposite the LZ, with two people watching the bottom entrance and two watching the top. It gives you two chokepoints with no possibility of flanking.
The other map doesn't have that, at least not without windows that screw things up.

Noveria is easier for snipers. I find it difficulty to snipe well on Ghost.

I personally have MUCH better luck on this map than on other maps. It seems like there are much fewer directions for the enemy to come at you and there are built-in defensive points. Phantoms and a lot of the troublesome enemy's often get funneled into narrow areas and it's a lot harder to miss with grenades, area attacks, etc.

I find gold and silver easier on White because it's not hard to find one another and you're almost always in proximity to someone. In addition, it's easy to take on waves from any vantage point, whereas in Ghost you have to go look for them and they're just in one spot unless it's wave 9 or 10. There isn't much room to run away from a phantom, but in gold you should be prepared to take one down anyways.

While I like both, they make no sense um... how do you call it... context wise. One is basically a slum with a lot of prefabs, the other one, well it's a landing pad somewhere.

White is a sniper's paradise. You have a perch with a vantage point of BOTH the main approaches enemies take. Ghost doesn't give you that advantage.

I kind of see Firebase White easier for long range shooters and Firebase Ghost easier for short range fighters. White has long corridor like vantage points that are better suited for weapons with scopes and whatnot whereas Ghost has a somewhat haphazard layout with lots of buldings and plenty of cover for enemies to hide behind that I find is easier to break when taking a shotgun to. My Krogan Soldier hits a lot harder on Ghost since he fights in buildings a lot more and rushing behind enemies while in White I usually pop off some shots with the Mattock during the beginning of each wave before switching to Scimitar and rushing in to kill what few enemies everyone else hasn't snipered already.
Just my opinion on it though. I'm better as a close range fighter with a shotgun I've come to find and I like Ghost better than White.

Think of an L. Think of turtling said L every wave on gold. Think of easy gold victories while never leaving the L.
The only time you should even leave this area is for kill missions that involve mobs that won't come to you in time, OR hacking.
If you explain this to people and they try and Rambo then let them die.

The problem with White is that people insist on camping out in that central position by the ladder, which is attacked from 3 sides.

Once you know where everything is on a map it becomes a matter of squadmates rather than map layout.

I prefer White, I also think it is slightly more challenging. Yeah everyone camps up the ladder, but so do I because you can spot where the enemy is coming from quicker and just deal with them, instead of camping in that room for the whole mission.

White is more fun. Enemies coming up a ladder are pretty much free kills. Just like the slums you've got a place to camp if you want(the room with stairs) and if you want to go hardmode, try and camp out the extraction zone for the game.

I like White better. I play an Infiltrator primarily and, like others have said, White has a couple nice, long corridors that make sniping easy. On Ghost I find myself having to run around and hunt for the enemies far more often. I also feel like I have to be more attentive to what's behind me since I seem to get flanked more often on Ghost.
Also, at the end of the round when it's time to extract, I feel that White's LZ is far easier to defend. Enemies can only come from one direction, you have plenty of cover, and we're back to those nice, long corridors that make the approaching enemy sniper bait. On Ghost the enemies have the high ground, come from two different angles, you have little cover, and the enemies are already in your face by the time you can see them.

What's weird is that when I was a lower level and playing bronze, I felt Noveria was easier. But then when it came to silver and gold, I felt as if ghost was easier.
