The manual is included in game for all players for ease of use. This allows players to find the manual if they wish at any point that they need this.
I fail to see how this is a bad thing?
See, Chris it works like this:
a. "No manual? WTF Bioware? You cheap bastards!"
b. "A paper manual? WTF Bioware? Why don't you care about the environment you bastards?"

Its a good thing imo.
The days of paper manuals are in the past.

Obviously, you've never experienced the joy of having a manual filled with both humor and satire as well as being helpful.Siven80 wrote...

Except for nowhere does the second option ever occur. Please link a thread of any game that says this.

In all seriousness, less trees are destroyed thanks to this movement.
Well that could be, but most printed things use recycled paper now. So the question is could game companies do their part and start using recycled paper?

not that physical manual's have meant very much in any kind of game in a rather long time. The days of getting a small book are quite gone. Well before ME 3's time.
I remember old PC game manuals back from the late 1990s/early 2000s.
I have some old manuals (not strategy guides), that have almost 200 pages.
The games would come in a big box with a game map (depends on the game), keyboard cutout thing to put on your keyboard, large manuals, and other stuff.

you see the problem is the passion got replaced with greed. Its not about the passion anymore- its about the money.
Well, it was always about the money - they're a business after all. The difference is that now it's about the money at the expense of quality; Dragon Age 2 and the decline of the paper manual are two good examples. But yeah, to be fair, that's the way the wind is blowing. It's a good thing there are still some companies who embrace the older traditions.

Why not let the price drop when all we get is a piece if plastic? Why not... argh, forget it
You should put it back in jewel case where it came from and you wont lose it.

Yeah, I got that.
The point is, some people are willing to defend Bioware to no end for every poor decision. That was directed at them.

so if everyone jumps off a bridge you do too?!?
I wonder how much time goes into developing a manual though, as well as what the printing costs?

Put disc in computer -> install -> play.
Everything you need to know about the controls are in the options menu in the game.
Everything you need to know about the story is also in the game.
