oh great, so on top of no holstering, there is also no manual in Mass 3?

That was a long ass time ago. I thought we were comparing the lack of manuals to games made in this milennium, then decade, then year.Rudy Lis wrote...

Are people seriously complaining over the lack of a manual?
Manuals could be different. I still remember Fallout 1 manual, IMHO very "immersive".
And you can put them in PDF form and save the trees, bees, snales, whales for futureannihilationhuntcuisineresearch program.
As I recall, games like Wasteland (basically an older Fallout) used a manual type thing to add more content while not making the actual game too large (In a memory sense. Words currently fail me but hopefully you get the point). That isn't really a problem anymore.

Honestly, I prefer having the lore presented in-game if you can do it. Sure, Dragon Age could have had a manual as big as an Ultima, but I prefer game the way it is.
Agree on that.
Plus, I think simulation games should have manual. Or very thorough tutorial. Because not all of gamers have RL experience in certain areas.
Of course entry levels could be option-adjusting, like in Il-2, for example, but good tutorial never hurts.

Actually, boxes would be nice, even if there's nothing in them. Much more fun to find a box under the Christmas tree than a card in your stocking.
Box mades of plastic or paper. Both ways it killing planet!

I still think that manual is game dependant issue. Casual games with low entry level could have built-it tutorial and "help" section. The more serious game is, the higher entry level gets, so you need more studying.
Plus, I think, some sort of manual or "lore" pages, appearing while game is loaded, could only increase immersion. And I don't think it's bad.

Manual? - Too expensive. Prolonged support? - Too expensive.
If it continues at this rate you will not be able to buy a physical copy rather than an empty box with just a code in it to be activated and downloaded through various tools. Gotta love it.
Box? Box too expensive. Just code.
You go into a store to buy a game, nothing on shelves, just a man or woman at a desk (if lucky). You tell them name of game, they tell you price, swipe your card across desk and out prints a phone number on the receipt. You ring that phone number and they give you a code, that code you put into client on your computer or console and at which time it downloads and you can play.
Alternatively you can just buy online.

YYeah -- either you need a tone of flight school levels or a real manual. Strategy games probably need manuals too.

Too expensive. Just kiosk. Like those bank terminals. Who needs human salesperson if we still don't talk IRL anymore, just guddamn online!

No, think about challenge! About people health! You have to go to kiosk, you have to walk, to dress up (well, you can go in underwear, actually

SimCity or Capitalism require them too. Not sure if they fit "strategy" genre, for me strategy it's not some CnC alike RTS, it's something more like Hearts of Iron.
And Wargames. They NEED manuals.

The manual is included in game for all players for ease of use. This allows players to find the manual if they wish at any point that they need this.
I fail to see how this is a bad thing?
Of course you don't. Anything to cut costs and save money must be a good thing. <_<

Who, me?
- I'm a female, not a "guy."
- I didn't say you were idiotic. I said your initial post was idiotic. There's a big distinction.
- In my much lengthier response, I indicated that I wasn't going to bother with the rest of your posts because your initial post left such a bad impression. Why on Earth should I wade through the rest of your drivel?
- I notice that you didn't bother to respond to my lengthy response - probably because you can't actually defend
yourself other than to respond with childish insults. - I don't care why it bothers you at this point. I pointed out that I was a fan of manuals back in the day but that these are different times.
- Oh, that lengthy response of mine is on page 8 for the record. But feel free to ignore it and continue in making thinly-veiled references to me that include no actual defense/good explanation of your initial post or a refutation of the points that I later made.

Or upside, depending on how you look at it. That's how I originally lost my Morrowind GOTY edition manual.

i am more annoyed by the fact that modern videogaming loves to make microscopic letters in the games (Crysis 2 being a good example of this)
It's obviously a deal with the companies which make eye glasses. They pay Bioware to do it, so more people have trouble seeing.

Personally, I am an old school gamer, meaning all the games I played long ago came with great books. I read them while I was taking ****s. This is sadly not the case anymore. Games are coming with thinner manuels, I finish them off before pushing out the first dump.
I remember the morrowind manuel took me a while.
Man, those were the times.
This is the reaosn why I am getting the collectors edition guide. For my **** reading.
