Yes, but I decided a while back to not buy from Bioware and EA anymore so it isn't a knee-jerk reaction. The way a company treats its customers is actually kind of a big deal to me. That doesn't seem to be the popular opinion though.
No it is popular enough, it's just threads with too many people posting this view get locked and other members who defend everything BioWare/EA does stay up no matter how often they turn to personal attacks.

The rational decision? You mean encouraging the big corporations to increasingly **** their customers over? If anything not buying is the rational thing to do since if people allow stuff like this to happen they are going to push for worse and worse things in the future. Give them a finger (which you are doing now and did in the past) and they'll take an arm. At least.Davidicus wrote...
It's a popular opinion amongst forum-dwellers who have nothing better to do than to complain (not saying you're one, but that's the fact). When push comes to shove, as evidenced by this thread, most people will make a rational decision of buying content based on its quality and how much they want it, not based on the company/publisher that's making it. While the latter are definitely factors, in most cases, they should not be determining factors in a purchase of an entertainment product (in my opinion).Anaraky wrote...

We will stop when it becomes unbearable. The fact is, DLC has always been additional, optional content, and only weak fools cry that companies "force" them to buy anything. Just like Axe "forces" you to buy their hygiene products because if you don't, you can't pick up hot girls. Some see it as nickle and diming, which is understandable, but others see it as charging for content that was developed separately from the main game. If that content is high quality and fairly priced, pay for it; if not, don't.AgentWhale wrote...
I won't be buying it. I don't know if that constitutes a boycott.
Seems a lot of you don;t care about these issues, and this will affect me, because if you guys keep spending money on all this **** gaming will get more and more expensive, with more and more nickel and dime tactics by EA;s marketeers.
*sigh*
I feel so helpless.

Slippery slope fallacy. It's very easy to use in an argument, unfortunately. If you feel that strongly, then you don't buy, which is why I said "in most cases, they (company/publisher) should not be determining factors." You are not included in most cases. I'd originally reserved that caveat for, say, a movie company that put its proceeds toward abortions or something else you disagreed with, but in your case, you just feel like you're getting ****ed over.Anaraky wrote...

The slippery slope thing is true though. It has gotten increasingly worse with Biowares newer titles and it probably will get even worse since people are willing to put up with it.Davidicus wrote...

Not to mention the whole From Ashes thing is bad enough on its own.

I doubt most people will boycott ME3. Like I said yesterday. Best example is Left 4 Dead 2, where like 50.000 people would boycott it, but in the end all of them were playing it on the day of release.
Pretty much standard operating procedure for the internet. More people talk about voting with their wallet than actually doing so.
I have no gripe with DLC designed to expand a game, I have issue with DLC as gimmicks. Most companies are doing it not just Bioware. The only way to change it is for enough of the community to truly vote. Obviously there isn't enough of that yet because the developers are still doing it, so presently there is more talk than action going on.

What's the point? didn't they already say that everyone that buys standard edition will get the DLC for free. I guess you could boycott if you don't like origin, otherwise i think there is no longer a reason to boycott.
Don't think they did it would have been huge news.

Your little boycotts are not helping me out here... Boycott harder because right now your movement is so insignificant I can't collect and take your CE pre-orders as none are being freed up.

Renting so EA don't get a penny.
You do realize that isn't going to do anything, right? Sure, means EA won't get a penny, but if you're one of the people who are planning on boycotting, that means abstaining from the product/company period. That means no renting, no going over to a friend's house, no buying it used, no dealing with whatever the company puts out. Period.
