Collectors are just Prothean husks, the Reapers probably have some more left over from the last cycle. I like the continuity, hopefully there is an explanation of the Collector activities in ME2.
-seems that the Collector particle beam weapon is just a modified version of the Prothean weapon in the dlc

So far I know of labcoat armor, zipped-up Samara armor and this one. Haven´t seen if she is in civvies aboard the Normandy.

Though bioware stated that each character has 2 appearances from the beginning of the game, so with these its 3 each, and with the collectors edition, Liara has 4 appearances...

I think theirs different types of husks. Just speculating. The traditional husks we've fought in ME1 were more cybernetic, and Collectors I see a mix of both and genetic engineering so, maybe they could be cloned and modified.

Vega mentions fighting the Collectors in another incident. So I don't know if that justifies some where out and about doing other stuff. Obviously ME3 has all the answers. Their zombies.
