I am totally anti piracy but as I understand it, the fact that there is no simultaneous release(which is ridiculous as it has been done before with various games) of the game, coupled with the preload thing and Origin is more than likely to lead to a lot of people getting it through illegal channels.
I have even heard some people who have preordered the game saying they will pirate it should they get the chance to play it before release. I honestly dont understand EA/Bioware's policy and thinking on the matter :S
Yeah I with you on this, the stance EA/Bioware have taken only really encourages piracy. It is proven that having a simultaneous worldwide release reduces piracy by a considerable amount. As well as this the fact that EA support are getting dates wrong all the time only confuses potential buyers more. When can I pre-load in my region?, when can the game unlock? etc etc. Unfortunately, pirating is an easier route to obtain the game because there is no fiddling around and this is why pirates do it. If publishers/Developers alike not just EA/Bioware, could reassure customers with correct easy information, ie. a worldwide pre-load time and release date/time then people wouldn't feel the need to obtain the game earlier because they know that no one else can get it earlier.
The fact that morals of pirating reduce in the case of non worldwide release, because many people weigh up the fact:
Publishers are unfair by making us wait for game when people are already legally playing on it = therefore "I" will pirate game because it is unfair on me and I could get away with it because I could just say I bought it aboard.
Hence why non world-wide release is breeding ground for piracy. If Publishers want to stop piracy (so do I) they first must for-go this. A more drastic measure might even be the fact that a soon as retailers receive their copies they are allowed to sell them.
