Your n7 rank doesn't matter, but if we join a gold game and people are bad and go hero status downstairs by themselves I instantly leave

I don't leave because of your N7 rating, I leave because there's almost always someone selecting new powers, buying item packs and dicking around with their appearance while 3 other people are all readied and waiting.

Seriously it's faster to wait about 15-30 seconds for everyone to ready up and then bail in search of a new game if they don't, than it is to wait around who knows how long for that one last guy to hit the ready button.

I think what matters is that low N7/level players shouldn't jump into the fray just like that and run off on their own without knowing the game mechanics. It's understandable that new people don't know how the game works, but it's inexcusable not to learn especially on your first match.

I've only kick low level characters that shouldn't be in a Silver/Gold game. If their N7 rating is decent (15ish) and they joined as a low level character I'll give them a warning they need to switch to a higher level character before initiating a vote kick or voting in one.

Honestly I don't look at the N7 rank but the charcter level itself. If I see a character below level 10 attempting Silver I am skeptical of that person's usefulness regardless of rank.

I'd agree for the power classes but for the weapon classes, particularly Inflitrator, you're surprisingly effective at low levels.

I've unlocked a Turian Sentinel, Phalanx, Scimitar, a million human color upgrades, and Widow III. It's maddening since I prefer Vanguard (I'm N7 35 and 19 Vanguard). I took the hint and started my level 4 (sigh human unlocks) Infiltrator solo with the Widow and all points in fitness for solo bronze. Screwed up my first run but got to wave 9 without dying before getting OHK'd by a Phantom on the second. I'm pretty confident I could contribute on Silver.

The mass effect multiplayer is great...

But I almost didn't get to experience it because the very first four 'quick match' games I attempted to join, I got vote-kicked.

I don't know what can be done about that, but it's a TERRIBLE first impression. Seeing a lot of folks talking about silver/gold rating (which I haven't tried yet), but it's happening more than just there.

Oh, and I often check what weapons people have when on gold.

If they are an adept/vanguard carrying two guns, it's a kick.

Higher rank means the player most likely knows other peoples' skills and their place in a team so is capable of teamwork.
