I got Mass effect 2 for free for buying Dragon Age 2. Never paid much attention to it until late last year when I had nothing better to do. Unwilling to just skip an entire game and just play the sequel, I bought Mass Effect and played through it first.  I was completely hooked. I beat the first game in 23 hours played, and immediately hopped into the 2nd one. Unfortunately, I had burned myself out after a marathon of Mass effect 1, so I lost the will to play after about 8 hours. I finally got the urge to play again earlier this month, and, like last time, I was completely hooked. I did every single quest I could find, and 100% every star system. It took me a total of 45 hours, and I'm finished just in time for Mass Effect 3. I never preorder games, so I'll be waiting intently to see everyone's opinion on it. Overall Mass Effect 2 was a superior game to the first in every way except for the main story. It had superior characters, greater length, and better side quests. The main quest, however, was quite short, and relied on recruiting missions to artificially increase its length. Everything else more than made up for it, of course. It is definitely one of the greatest games I've ever played.
