So doing a low rep "evil" playthru of BG 1 on TuTu and i got to nashkel got Edwin n went off n murdered Dynaheir; when I came back to Nashkel it kept saying.

"You have Failed. Guards Have Been Called".

And it spawned like 20 bounty hunters. That proceeded to slaughter my party.

Wtf?

The walkthru's say that you get accosted by some bounty hunters; but 20 is a HELL of a lot more than some. And it wouldnt stop spawning them. Just kept coming and coming.

It also caused EVERYONE in Nashkel to go hostile.

Eugh.

Is this WAD?

If you get your rep low enough, you become "wanted" by the authorities. At that point, unlimited # of mercenaries/bounty hunter will accost you in civilized areas (such as Nashkel). If you don't go to towns, you are OK. If you do want to go to towns, you need to donate to a temple to get your reputation up.

BTW "low enough" to get infinite respawns means lower than 3, if I recall.

I do agree that infinite respawns of mercenaries and Flaming Fist parties is unfair/irritating/cheesy (infinite respawns of anything are unfair/irritating/cheesy, in any game). It doesn't even make sense in-universe; even if Flaming Fist and others throw all available troops to bring you down, given that the population of Baldur's Gate itself is probably no more than 500 persons (and of the entire Sword Coast no more than 1000 -- at least in the game, I know they may be 2 orders of magnitude higher according to other sources), their supply of guards should be quite finite, and they can't afford to get all of them decimated just to bring you down, nor relocate them insantaneously to your position (Flaming Fist headquarters in Baldur's Gate has maybe a dozen guards on duty, and that's supposed to be their main office).
