How will I know if Pinnacle Station even works if I have to buy it through Origin? My copy of ME1 is the Direct2drive (now gamefly) version, and it doesn't even show up in my games list for the Origin application.
I hope Pinnacle Station works with an existing character, not just a new character.

Try to link the cd-key of your gamefly edition of the game to Origin. I got my Mass Effect 2 from steam to Origin - doesn't start tho. Haven't gotten the original game from Steam to work with Origin. Maybe it won't with anything else either.
I've gotten the impression that it is not a dlc worth the money nor time. Combat against "virtual" enemies and the story not progressing anywhere.
I'll stick with ME3 co-op if I want Mass Effect combat.

Funnily enough I see a LOT of Pinnacle Station, in terms of gameplay, in ME3 multiplayer. EA gave it to me for free, but no, I wouldn't pay for it.

When Origin took over management of Legacy ME content, it seems that I no longer have access to Pinnacle Statio DLC - without buying it again at least. Any ideas how to get it back?

Have you tried registering the DLC key via Origin for a digital copy? If that yielded no results, try EA support. If you're stubborn enough (aka visit them three or four times if previous visits didn't solve the problems) they inevitably get the job done most of the time.

Um I got my pinanacle station offf the old EA system forget what it was called and it transfered to my origin account flawlessly.

when you purchase Pinnacle Station via origin you get the option to download its install exe file, then you can install it on your ME copy, i dont think it matters what type of copy is it,
anyway you can register your mass effect copy on origin
