Yeah I agree... I reckon it will be slightly down on ME2, I think a lot of people will take issue with Kinect + Multiplayer additions. I think a lot of critics might also be slightly annoyed with the overall direction the game has taken.

Same.

I'm also pretty certain that overall use of the dialogue wheel will be scaled back in ME3 from past games. It sounds like they've devoted most of their dialogue resources to variable dialogue branches (the stuff that's only directly affected by preset choices and import variables, not moment-to-moment player interaction) and squadmate chatter. I'm thinking that might irk at least a few reviewers.

I don't know if 'weaker' is the right word. They won't be as varied as ME2's squad, but if the story is stronger with more 'wow' or 'aww' moments, it'll probably even out the final score.

I think ME3 will almost certainly have a lower Metacritic score than ME2. It's very common for the third game in a trilogy to have slightly lower scores than the previous 2, even if it's widely considered the best. Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 are good examples.

MP has been well received. At least on these boards.
And ME2 is considered to have a weak story with watered down gameplay, and it still got 10's and 9's from reviewers.

I think a lot of the reasoning behind the high scores critics gave it for story was due to the ME2 characters rather than the indeed weak main plot.

I think charcters will be a lot weaker in this one overall and I think this will effect the scores

Actually, I think the interaction is some of the best we've seen. I don't want to get too into it (due to spoilers) but characters appear all over the ship instead of just one place, and they interact with each other in great ways that seem to develop their friendships.

As to the character list, many are fan favorites already - Garrus, Liara, Tali, Virmire Survivor. And I think Vega will be fine as well.

I might just be optimistic.

EDIT: the only concern I have is how critics will receive the story and dialogue options. If they are not happy with some of the changes made, that could bring it down. We have never seen much of the dialogue wheel, so we cannot tell. I am confident that there aren't changes, however.

IGN had Lagrim ads plastered over it. Where were all the accusations of Bethesduh paying out the reviewers?

You're so angry at Skyrim no real reason other than you didn't like it. Todd Howard is swimming in money and you're swimming in... I don't know, Cheetos? Calm down. The game didn't egg your house.

That's sort of a tought one to call, often the third one doesn't build on the previous installment. Uncharted 3 is good but is basically Uncharted 2 in terms of functionality with a different campaign. Mass Effect 3 is an active evolution of two.

The interaction stuff all sounds very good, it's just a shame it will only be between 6 different characters I guess...

I don't really like any of those guys, so i'm hoping the main plot will really wheel me in this time. I think the core plot line will be much stronger than ME2's!

The nuances in terms of character interaction are going to be great, supposedly in some scenes animations are different if you are romancing a character or not even though the scene is combat related.

Are these framerate and lip syncing issues only on the PS3 version? Didn't specifiy.

Did they show the dialogue wheel in previews before ME 2 was reviewed? Since a lot of here think ME 2 also dumbed down the dialogue wheel...and it still got high scores.

On shooting mechanics
In fact, I rather enjoy Mass Effect 3's combat, and find it stronger than most third-person shooters. That speaks volumes about a game where story and role-playing sit paramount over actual gameplay.

O RLY?

Must cost a lot of money to buy every single game without any prior knowledge of its quality.

Well the framerate issue is almost certainly just the PS3 version.  Now the lip syncing is worrying the hell out of me as I'm going to be very annoyed by that if it's as bad as the demo.

This.

You've got be quite affluent or just careless to buy things blindly then judge if it was worthwhile or not.

Good question! As a matter of fact, they didn't really show that either. That's part of why I am not especially worried. One of the dialogue wheels they showed back at E3 2009 had two choices - on Illium. Considering how ME2 is no different from the rest of the games, I am optimistic for ME3.
