I'd like to jam a pipe into IGN's mouth, and then fart into the other end of the pipe.

So 12 years old or younger?

Judging from the amount of time you have to spend here, I'd say you're 11. Or 40 and living off welfare.

No need to thank me for answering your question.

I was talking about you. My mistake for not clarifying but I thought you'd see that.

There is still a loading 'disc' that spins in the bottom left corner though.

It's a UI effect, I'm sure I can use a console command to get it to go away.

About 95% of my favorite games are from old pre-2005. The Lost Vikings, Diablo, Starcraft, Sonic, Mario, Megaman, Pokemon. And all of them belonged to either the old PCs that looked like a TV or to the SNES.

But fact of the matter is, 95% of the list is based around nostalgia. When I pop in Starcraft the game is literally unplayable. It's just so very bad, especially compared to it's sequal. And I'm sure if I played Diablo or Baldur's Gate today I wouldn't make it pass the intro.

Mm, fair enough. Sometimes I'm convinced it's just nostalgia with me, but then I pop the games in and I don't want to stop playing. Some of it for its simple-yet-robust gameplay, some of it for its genuinely good storytelling mechanics and characterizations that I don't get often from these more gung-ho approaches to cinematic storytelling that I see everywhere today. (Which isn't to say there aren't exceptions; I love Mass Effect, unsurprisingly.)

I still play through the Mega Man X series from 1 to 5 once every eighteen months. Thought I'd bring that up since you mentioned Mega Man. I also play the Pokemon games as they come out, heh. And Sonic 1-3&K every year. Whoo.

I grew up playing those Mega Man X games and Sonic 2 on the Genesis was the very first game I've ever played  So many good memories from those days. Unfortunately I lack the old consoles to replay those games and don't feel like paying for a game 2 decades old so I don't know how they hold up compared to today. But I'm sure if I took one of my young cousins and had them go from playing Uncharted 3 to playing Crash Bandicoot they'd react negatively. God, I miss Crash Bandicoot:(

Was there a way to remove the spinning disc from ME 1/2?

I'm lucky in that there's a really nice independent games shop near my campus. Got some sweet deals on consoles that were otherwise memories through the nice folks there. And yes, Bandicoot was rockin'.

Also, best be layin' off mah dawg jreezy, BSN.

Not sure, but probably. I know there was a way to get rid of the tutorials, random messages, and "Press [insert controller button here]" prompts. At least in ME2 since I did that in the Coalesced.ini file.

After watching these vids, I honestly didn't expect people to be complaining... but then I remembered that this is BSN.

LOL, no, it does look pretty bad like that. I have a 32" Sony Trinitron with component hook-up from '07 though, makes SNES games and PSX games look absolutely beautiful. That's what I use for my old-school gaming. I've got a nice collection out in the living room, and then the modern stuff in here in the bedroom.

Had to make sacrifices doing the family thing.

Ah, that'll do it. All I've got living with me is a long-term girlfriend who's equally crazy for old-school gaming. Lucky in that regard, but if a family's what you want then you've got it goin' on. :D

Good point. I'm probably going to write one myself now. Might have to buy the PC version to do it though...

Well I have drawn my spoiler line. I will not watch these videos. I've watched every single bit of footage released/leaked thus far, and now that I have gotten to play the demo I am satisfied until the game releases. NO MORE!  I want going to Mars for the first time to truly feel like the first time.  This is a moment I've looked forward to since ME1!

Hmnn... I still install and play games like PS:T, Heroes of Might and magic 3 (plus expansions). Command and Conquer, and even the original Battlechess sometimes. Wore out my copy of "Freelancer".... A game that actually isnt that far from ME in its story. If I had a copy of "Syndicate" id play that too. Star wars rebellion is also a game I like. All games that have 7-10ish years of history and look like crap, but games that had excellent stories to back them.

I guess the scanning game is a way to "encourage" people to play MP.

Speaking of old school, does anyone remember those old games for the Atari that had the little switches that you'd flip up and down in different patterns to get a different game and there were like 20-30 games on the cartridge. That is nostalgia at its finest. :D

I still find myself playing games from the SNES and NES days via modulator. I only wish I had some of my PS1 games around. The cost of having younger siblings I guess.

-Sure. If you cant be bothered and want everything served on a plate instead of keeping in with the lore and immersion. Not all things a hero does is epic. Im betting even Shepard cleans his own rifle, oils it, maintains it and tweaks it. He might himself try to "reload" or make special ammo. Im betting he doesnt let anyone decide what combat boots he wears. Im guessing that he uses tactical gear that isnt by any means standard and perhaps even something he has invented or tweaked beyond recognition himself. Im betting shepard has learned the insiginia and the rank shouldertabs of every single forigen armed force outthere. Taking out the highest ranking officer first can be a matter of life or death.

Whilst Id love that kind of immersion, its not in the cards. The game has to be "entertaining". Which is why we can kill a reaper embryo with a pellet gun. Because if we had to use perfectly timed heavy weapons, that would frustrate the living crap out of people and not make it "entertaing" at all for most.
