Vanguard in ME3 is fine, but it is nowhere near ME2's Vanguard for me. In terms of fun, I mean.

Charge/Nova spam is not even risky if you have "the proper" build. Kinda gets boring after few matches.

Exactly how I feel. The class has no challenge at all, nor is it very dynamic. I got bored with mine a few hours after hitting 20 and beating Gold with it a couple times.

Srsly bro. Vanguard stole muh kills.

Just wait til the Devs tell him it works as intended; he's probably still recovering from the suicide attempt after they said the reload trick wasn't cheating lol. Must be scary to live in a world with no shades of gray, where manually executing an in-game tactic on the class with the single highest need for survivability that buys an extra second of not dying here and there just absolutely ruins the experience for one's teammates in a cooperative environment against the AI with a credit-based random unlock reward system.

And the funny thing is that I bet he wouldn't make it past wave 5 on bronze solo w/ a Vanguard even if he abused the hell out of that horrific, game-breaking exploit.

No Snakes Alive, who's more "butt-hurt" here. The guy who wants to play the game as intended or the guy who's defending and exploiting a cheat like a 5 year-old and in no way sees how doing so undermines other people's efforts?

The Vanguard isn't hard to play as, While I'll admit to never surviving a full wave on Gold (only got to wave 5 with three other dudes) I did so, without cheating, which means anyone can do so as long as they actually spend time practicing and playing well. Now, doesn't that sound more like what the devs intended than cheating?

You haven't discovered some buried potential of the class that only your leet skillz could master. If you look on someone else's test without being noticed, you cheated, but you can try the whole justifying it with the whole "shades of gray" thing if you'd like.

Let him be, if he thinks perma-invincibility is fun, all the power to him.
If I find another player using such exploits, I'll simply leave the game or vote him to be kicked after the match, and that's all people should do, actually: Don't like someone's playstyle, leave or kick.

For the record, I'm a Vanguard and I can't see how any Vanguard worth their weight can actually defend such a cheap exploit - dev intended or otherwise, but I'm not going to tell someone how to play the bloody game either.
As I said, if I disagree or don't like it, I can always leave the server or vote the player to be kicked.

PS: Kronner, if you can record some of your Gold matches, I'd love to see them =)

Are we still talking about a simple little glitch in a non competitive multiplayer of computergamedemo or did the topic suddenly change to a creepy mass murderer who slaughtered your whole family right after he raped them all?

Not saying you're overreacting or anything. Just curious.

Invincibility is not what i consider a "Little glitch"

and your a very crude person. This is a fan forum and i'm going to be passionate about the game i love, i think most others here would be too.

I am a crude person, is that so? Well, at least I'll be sleeping well tonight and won't be hyperventilating all day long. And neither do I feel the urge to insult or accuse people. I think thats a fair tradeoff.

You just made a statement claiming i act liked somone just murderd and raped my whole family.

But when i call you crude thats crossing the line. Right?

You got me wrong. I'm really not offended and for all I care, you can cross as many lines as you please. :)

I'm not talking about you calling me crude either, but rather you calling other people bastard. Don't know about you, but in my book that's an insult.

I just can't ignore the irony in you raging around the board, demanding a statement of the devs, to put 'everyone' at ease, while you are yourself the only one who needs to be put at ease. Together with the overall mood in the thread and you calling me crude while insulting other people at the same time is just cognitive dissonance par excellence.

Siriously. calm down. You'll die of a heart attack before you're 40.

So, I tested this, and its easy to do, and while your screen shows you being hit by bullets, your shield never goes down.

I tested it as well and I found it kind of hard to do right. My dexterity with my right hand is somewhat lacking so that could explain it. I could do it after a while but I was so focused on it I sometimes didn't take the opportunity to attack. I found it kind of boring to be honest; rolling all invincible was sort of cool but my damage output just dropped real bad. I just eventually decided "screw it" and went back to playing normally which I found much better.

So meh. It's neat but I think I'll just play normally.

while you do this you aren't doing damage, so this is pretty much the same as dancing naked in front of the enemy while your team mates snipe them in the confusion

It's a demo. We don't know if this stuff is in the release version, or been fixed yet.

It might not be very good to expect much from the full game. IGN has been reviewing it and they cite the same lip-syncing problems etc. that have been seen in the demo.

Just don't expect anyone to take the MP seriously, and laugh whenever it's mentioned. It will just be another tacked on/half-baked MP additions for quick cash if they don't fix such obvious exploits.

I'd like to see them actually care about this MP, but hey thats asking for too much right?

Works great with half Nova. Nova once for main damage, then instead of doing the second nova (which barely does damage anyway), just do the fake/cancel and then charge. Great damage output and almost impossible to kill.

So in other words you think balance is irrelevant to good gameplay. Despite supposedly being apathetic, you freak out over nothing. Ok. Makes perfect sense.

By not taking it seriously, I mean laughing at bioware's MP attempt and refering to it as a half-baked addition, while continuing to play a multitude of superior MP/COOP games that the devs actually properly care for and balance. You know most devs do this for MP...right?

Also, can you please refrain from posting immaturely or trollishly? Lets just keep it civil.

Why are you so up in arms at the suggestion that Bioware simply take exploits a bit more seriously now that their game is multiplayer? Like every other developer?  Are they that hard to fix? I'm sure we can find some even ground.

I don't think any singular exploit is going to cause droves of people to write off the Mass Effect Multiplayer as a joke but maybe I just underestimate multiplayer fans as a whole. Plenty of other multiplayer games, both co-op and competitive, have exploits that people utilize and I don't see people laughing at all those. Even if they do laugh at it, I really don't care. I don't and won't claim to be some kind of skilled multiplayer person, looking for the praise of those online. I rarely play multiplayer anything and I'm probably rather mediocre as a player.

Regarding this exploit: I don't care either way. I already said its not my cup of tea. They patch it, whatever. They don't, whatever. I just don't care.

I just want to have fun.

Whoa...I wake up to see these serious business posts. In all seriousness, it's a demo and what everyone is doing is pretty much testing the multiplayer. If something unexpected happened as in this case, then it'll spark a discussion which hopefully will grab the devs attention. We are all pretty much play testers in this sense.

Besides, the ME3 demo is about co-op, a PvE to put it loosely and not a PvP. Because of this, I don't see much harm in it. Also to clarify, the definition of a cheat is someone using an external program to give you an unfair advantage ie Aimbots, wallhacks while exploits are coding flaws in the game that an observant player can take notice and use it.

Think about diablo 2. There was an exploit where you can sidestep to dodge attacks or portal where the exploit was to pretty much shoot portals through walls for speedruns. Those are exploits as in the case of the vid. Whether or not it will remain there is up to the devs.

Besides, me and my team had fun in the vid. More so since the exploit has obvious flaws as with the atlas execution grab (hillarious part for me). The point of playing a game is to have fun and not make it into a serious business sort of thing. I've had enough stress at work and all I want to have is just plain fun which the exploit did not diminish. (in my case)

Also, Hi :)

I imagine it wasn't intended, but its not like you do the damage AND don't lose your shield, so I'd say its fine. It still has its drawbacks. (Since you don't do damage while doing it)

It would be funny/sad if this bug became a feature.

Funny because it reminds me of the Tribes 1 skiing glitch but was so insanely popular with fans the devs added it to all the sequels and made it a core part of the game.

Sad because I'm sorry, my opinion is Vanguards are OP as is without a God-mode mechanic. Reloading is one thing since it doesn't improve your skill but being untouchable is an entire other conversation.

Then again it doesn't really matter in a PvE co-op game.

You mean your butt? I'd like to see that. Could you take a picture, please? I'm still looking for an appropriate avatar.

I also suggest you update your knowledge on internet slang. Not that I wouldn't enjoy explaining a saying that has been around for 20 years.

it's not a bug, it's a feature
since I assume your to lazy to read that text anyway, heres the money quote:
"In other cases, software bugs are referred to jokingly as undocumented features. ("It's not a bug; it's an undocumented feature!")"

Or from another resource:
"FEATURE n. 1. A surprising property of a program. Occasionally docu- mented. To call a property a feature sometimes means the author of the program did not consider the particular case, and the program makes an unexpected, although not strictly speaking an incorrect response. See BUG. "That's not a bug, that's a feature!" A bug can be changed to a feature by documenting it."

In short: Of course it's a bug, but it's a tolerated one. At least as long as it is not fixed. That makes it a feature. Whether you like it or not.

I would just leave the game if someone just kept spamming it. I play with vanguard a lot, but this game play style would be a cheap move for me, too repetitive also.......
