As a vanguard, I can honestly say we're powerful enough without resorting to these kinds of cheap tricks. Only bads would resort to this.

The Nova animation should never have come with invulnerability in the first place. Actually, an animation should not mitigate all incoming damage. Ever. *

*Charge is an exception.

This "faking" is pretty much the same as using Charge/Nova spam chain, albeit more cheesy.

Why do you consider charge an exception? It even restores your barriers after all.

Overall I think the invulnerability is a fair tradeoff for the fact, that the animations for charge and nova are incredibly long and the player is always at point blank range of the enemy, when using them. If nova and charge would hit instantly, as it is with stasis, overload or energydrain for example, they might well remove the invulnerability

So you do not get killed while you are travelling to your target (i.e. you are mid-Charge).

Nova is supposed to be high risk power. It is not. You can spam it and it is not dangerous at all. And in SP we get even more upgrades than in the demo.

Some people call it cheating some people call it knowing how to play.

When people move cancel and crap in fighters that the devs never intended to be in the game but because they were considered skillful maneuvers and the devs left in the game for future generations.

This is whatever if they want to leave it it needs to be a bit harder and other classes need some kind of cancel move.

Nova makes you invulnerable? Huh. Frankly, that's news to me - because a few days ago, in a match a phantom literally insta-killed me While I was doing a nova (it's on silver difficulty, and we had no adept, so I had to take care of phantoms for the team). Pretty sure it just grabbed me out of the mid-air jump and there I was, lying on the ground just moments later.
