Why is Bioware Punishing us for Playing the Demo?

I've asked a couple of Bioware members about why they are wiping our Multiplayer saves to no avail. I've posted in the proper forums and sent them PM's to no avail. Their standard response seems to be "because I said so" but have not actually gotten a response as yet. I figure they're probably innundated with A.) fan mail or B.) hate mail so I turn to my fellow forumites to draw a conclusion to this problem since honestly users make the world go round... Here's a copy of the edited e-mail I sent to Jessica Merizan:

"I just wanted to let you know that talking to a lot of gamers they are all asking the same thing of the demo. They all want to roll their multiplayer characters over to the game. To be honest with you, with all the negative feedback you've been getting from gamers regarding DLC, Origin, and now multiplayer its starting to make me feel like Bioware is nickel and diming us? Please throw us a bone and reward our work and loyalty. You did it in the ME2 demo when you let us roll our ME1 character into the demo and you even let us pull the character we created in the demo into ME2. This is not going to make the game unbalanced because frankly there is no PvP and all the users that are at 20 are playing at silver and gold levels anyways. The only thing reseting our players will do is aggravate and alienate gamers because we'll end up spending a few more days leveling characters we already had to begin with. Or you could let us keep our weapons (stock) and classes and pull our talent points (take the Halo Reach beta for example where you could keep armor upgrades), but please don't have us playing this game in vain. When future ME titles come out and you try to market it gamers will think, "that's what they say but remember what they did in ME3."

I already posed this to Jarrett Lee and Chris Priestly but I'm asking for your take because frankly your a lot nicer. ^_^ "

So what do you guys think the reason is?

P.S. Chris I would love to earn a lockdown badge for honesty. Free speech doesn't apply to privately owned public forums I guess.

I wasn't expecting them to roll over...but I wasn't expecting to be able to level my characters so high I would LOVE for them to carry over.

Try beta testing an MMO for a few months, only to have all that progress wiped.

Tragic, really.

I'm not sure you can really call that punishing.

Not rewarding perhaps. Unless you count, like, the demo.

Demos/betas never carry over to the final release, at least none I've ever been involved in. You knew this going in, get over it.

I was under the understanding that none of what happened in the MP demo counted/mattered because it was, well, a demo. It's only a fraction of the game that could take place at any point in said game.

Most demos and betas (Battlefield Bad Company 2) cut ALOT out of what you can earn and how far you progress, ME3 MP demo feels like the real deal but with 2 maps and one enemy.

Clearly it's stupidity on the part of people who don't understand the difference between an entitlement and a punishment.

Because this isn't the final game, nor does it carry with it all of the unlocks that the full game has. It was stated pretty clearly, and should be common knowledge that demos never carry over to full retail.

There not punishing us at all. The reason why our saves doesn't transfer over is so that we all can start anew. We got to play the demo and had a wealth of characters to play as, and with those characters comes with new powers. Now that we've played the demo, we can take that knowledge that we have and develop our character better then we did when first played the multiplayer demo.

If our saves did transfer over, multiplayer would be kinda dull since you unlocked/leveled up alot of characters. Starting anew is for the better.

Stop.

Step back.

And think about this for a second.

You are seriously saying that letting you play the demo early is punishment. Your self-entitlement level has exceeded even the BSN threshold.

But Javik has all of it, and he costs £10 extra.

While I would like some classes to carry over, I would like to change some of the powers I used points on as well.

I guess on the positive note it doesn't take too long to really level up.

Demos/betas almost never carry over. I think the Tribes Beta will, but that's the only one I can think of.

I'd like them to rollover, but I never really expected them too.

How is it an entitlement for to ask for something you worked for?
en·ti·tle·ment[/i]/enˈtītlmənt/Noun:The fact of having a right to something. The amount to which a person has a right.Synonyms:right - title - warrant
Would you be cool with it Bioware decided not to roll over your ME2 character to ME3. No because you just assumed it would roll over. I never read a bioware press release saying we couldn't prior to the demo. If there was one they tucked it in a corner.

Well it is not like they are making you play the demo but still I'd love for all my xp and items to carry over.

Wouldn't be fair to alot of people who didn't play the demo. I mean trying to stay dark until the release then logging into the MP and getting booted because your not N7 120 or Level 20. I mean hell, it's just a demo and people are already blocking others from playing.

It's not like they didn't tell you up front that this was going to be the case. I've already uninstalled it because I know it's pointless to keep playing and gathering stuff.

You're new here I'm guessing?

Also this is how it always is in demos and betas. It's not a punishment to let you play the demo.
