And think about this for a second.

You are seriously saying that letting you play the demo early is punishment. Your self-entitlement level has exceeded even the BSN threshold.

Wouldn't be fair to alot of people who didn't play the demo. I mean trying to stay dark until the release then logging into the MP and getting booted because your not N7 120 or Level 20. I mean hell, it's just a demo and people are already blocking others from playing.

Good point but Bioware gave people that preordered BF3 early access... But like I said taking our skill points and leaving our characters sounds fair.

Um my apologies for not checking my BSN messages today but I've been incredibly busy playing catch up on emails today since I did the Reddit AMA and Raphael Sbarge livestream yesterday (being away from email for several hours before a game launches results in an unhappy inbox!).

Yes, we are reseting the servers for the main game. There was always the potential that we would take learnings from the demo and implement them for the main game so it really is to help create the best experience possible, not to punish anyone.

The reward you get by playing multiplayer during the demo is all the people who didn't play are going to have to learn the ropes while you will know all the tricks, combos etc. You'll level much faster than they will and not have the frustrating learning curve to deal with ;)

Sorry again I couldn't respond sooner. Wish I could clone myself or never sleep right now!

Meh so people who pre-ordered a 70$ game got early access to the multiplayer of a demo.

When has a demo's save ever transferred over to the main game? Ever? Somebody name one time.

It isn't meant to. Expecting that is your own fault. Bioware isn't "punishing" you; stop relying on rhetoric, OP. The demo is free of charge and your choice on whether or not you want to play it, or how much time you wish to invest into it. It's your own fault for putting in a lot of time knowing full well that demos never transfer to the main game.

PS: A trial is different than a demo.

I hope Bioware has learned its lesson and will never ever release a demo again!

Because this isn't the final game, nor does it carry with it all of the unlocks that the full game has. It was stated pretty clearly, and should be common knowledge that demos never carry over to full retail.

Well, the Xbox 360 demo of ME2 let you carry over your Shepard if you stop the demo at the end of the Lazarus facility, but that was a rare exception.

Ha! Sleep is overrated anyway. I mean, aren't you excited about the game? It's only a few days left, how could you sleep knowing the joy that will come.

What?  Surely you're exaggerating.  It's not - *sees ME3 is only ten days away*

It's a demo, I guess because I play MMO's I understand that a demo will not be carried over much like beta testing characters in an MMO are not carried over.

This is not a conspriacy is, the way things are done in the gaming insdustry. Welcome to reality single player gamers.

Has it ever occured to you that with the tight development time for both the demo and game that it was not possible to make an export for the demo to the main game?

There may be bugs that they can't squash by launch, by taking a save that has a third of the content to a save that has all of the content.

I totally disagree.

If everything was to roll over it would make MP grow stale quickly for those with full completion or near completion of all demo available material. While I do like my characters and advancements, I'm not growing attached to them as I know its just a demo and not designed to be ported over.

It was a learning experience about Multiplayer, not an early headstart.

Thanks, this is the most intelligent response I've seen in this thread!

So what do you guys think the reason is?

Clearly it's stupidity on the part of people who don't understand the difference between an entitlement and a punishment.

How is it an entitlement for to ask for something you worked for?
en·ti·tle·ment[/i]/enˈtītlmənt/Noun:
The fact of having a right to something. The amount to which a person has a right.Synonyms:right - title - warrant
Would you be cool with it Bioware decided not to roll over your ME2 character to ME3. No because you just assumed it would roll over. I never read a bioware press release saying we couldn't prior to the demo. If there was one they tucked it in a corner.

Except that technically, you don't have a "right" to the game or anything in it. That is the property of others who let you purchase user rights that allow you to use the software under the terms they set for your use.  This is what the little agreement thing you have to check before you install means. In this case, they have deemed that you only have the right to create and play during the demo run, and they will wipe those characters and stats and everyone will start over when the actual game releases.  It doesn't matter how many hours you spent playing, when you checked "I agree" under the terms of use agreement, you agreed to the terms the owners of the software set for its use before they ever let it install.  In this case, you agreed that your characters and stats would not carry over. Those are your "rights" and that's all you're entitled to. And, most companies also write in clauses allowing them to change the terms of use without notice, too. So, you could wake tomorrow and find all the servers shut down and all the characters gone even though it has been previously stated that they wouldn't shut the mp demo down until March 2.

So, stop complaining and be happy with what you have.  It's not like you paid for it.

By the very nature of being a demo it *should* be wiped. It *better* be wiped.

Otherwise it wouldn't be a demo. Demo's do not carry over. They are to showcase features and nothing else. It is not meant to be early access to the multiplayer. It is meant as an early SHOWCASE of the multiplayer.

I play MMO's. Wipes before release happen 99% of the time. This is hardly special or even much of a punishment.
