But if I can interpret the title as meaning you can recruit anyone as a squadmate, then I'd definitely bring back Saren or Nihlus.

Nihlus, just because the backstory we're given from sources such as Samara/the wiki make him sound extremely interesting. Plus, having another spectre could never hurt... unless you're...

Saren. I loved his character. He was such a well written antagonist while still being just a cover for the real threat, not to mention the underlying antihero aspect to him. Of course though, I'd opt to bring him back after after going the paragon route and convince him of his logically misguided decisions. I mean, how cool would it be to have Saren at your side for the Reaper confrontation? He would know better than anyone the danger the Reapers pose and could very well make an excellent ally... assuming he doesn't shoot you for being human.

Rules be damned, get rid of the Prothean and Vega and give me Miranda back. I also propose the following loophope:
Since EDI was initially just an onboard AI, I say get her back as the ship AI. Then upload a copy of her into two shells and kill those. That should give me the two "deaths" I need to get Kasumi.

Hell if we can 'sploit the EDI-shell thing, let's do that 6 more times to get Legion Samara and Mordin.

With the exception of my waifu Liara, I'd trade all of the rest of them (including Mystery Guests #1 and #2, ignoring the OP) for Kasumi.

Then I'd try the threesome line from ME1 again.

I'd be happy to ditch Vega, EDI &/or Prothy to get Thane back.. but honestly I'd love to get most of the ME2 team back.. >>
