Kaiden came off a whiny to me.
I've never understood this. What did he whine about? That's one of his defining traits: the fact that he doesn't complain about stuff he has every right to.
:sigh: im not a big kaidan fan myself. im not gona say omg hes whiney but he does seem rather boring to me in me1.
now i wont lie i did romance him in my last me1 play and stayed loyal to him in me2.
i just hope they built on his charachter because i want to like him but i dont know i just cant force myself to from me1
Yeah, same. My Femshep romanced Kaidan, too.
Personally, I like Kaidan a lot better than Jacob. Kaidan isn't super edgy or spontaneous, but not everyone can be a weirdo. But I think Kaidan is still interesting. Unlike Jacob, he doesn't always say all the right things and have all the right opinions. He was not made to be perfect or to try to be.

His dialogue is straight out of a 1970s blaxploitation movie. Jacob is like a stereotype of a stereotype.
Um, this is blatantly false.
Yeah, that's a ridiculous statement.

Nothing to hate or love him for, he just fills space.
Doesn't really give you any new background lore which is something that helps Kaidan's case with him giving you codex info on how biotics work and the early days of human biotics.
So basically just mehhhhhhhhh

So your view of characters is based on how much they sound like a codex?

Wait wait wait wait, There are people that actually like him?
Perfect.
He's a wannabe Kaidan; the level-headed, "Sure, I've seen and done things, but I'm not going to let it affect me," man with no outstanding qualities or flaws. Problem with Jacob is that his "Backstory," is about as shallow as a teaspoon, and has no real emotion or color to it. Kaida broke a Turian's neck with his mind when he was seventeen. Jacob has daddy issues.

This is another classic BSN thing people do. If a character doesn't provide lots of lore and information, they become "pointless" and "contribute nothing to the in-game universe"; if they do, they're a "walking codex". It's another no-win situation.EternalAmbiguity wrote...

Oh please, say what he might about "Putting it behind him," his reunion made it fairly clear that he still resented his father. Besides, I was referring to his loyalty mission in general; considering that's where the bulk a character's backstory and personality was seen in ME2.
Jacob's a generic "Bro," character to me, and I don't find that interesting.

Actually, no it didn't, not to me anyway. Would you care to provide the dialog that makes you think that?

So that whole "My dad was an a-hole, but I'm over it now" and "WTF dad? Why are you keeping people trapped on this planet here?" thing was just a hoax?
