Oh please, say what he might about "Putting it behind him," his reunion made it fairly clear that he still resented his father. Besides, I was referring to his loyalty mission in general; considering that's where the bulk a character's backstory and personality was seen in ME2.

Jacob's a generic "Bro," character to me, and I don't find that interesting.

Actually, no it didn't, not to me anyway. Would you care to provide the dialog that makes you think that?

Jacob doesn't have daddy issues?

Who the hell was that guy in his LM then? Ronald Taylor? Was that his uncle?

Has a daddy =/= daddy issues.

His entire tone of voice before, during, and after the mission for one, for second (Paraphrasing); "Guess not even he could screw that up." When he's referring to how  he grew up to be a respectable soldier, despite his father. Really, are we going to do this?

So that whole "My dad was an a-hole, but I'm over it now" and "WTF dad? Why are you keeping people trapped on this planet here?" thing was just a hoax?

Oh GOD, it's all a conspiracy! You heard it right here, folks! Image IPB

Is there a point to your post? 'Cause I just don't see it.

Um...............

So, if your father was doing that, you WOULDN'T say "WTF dad?"?

How does that prove any "daddy issue?"

Shouldn't this be in the ME2 characters & romance section??? I thought the romance (ick) was over-the-top, but as a friend/person he's a nice enough guy.

I always liked Jacob. He's just a normal guy. Which is why he may seem boring compared to the other squadmates.I think he'd be a great friend for my Shepard, hell even for me in real life. But I also liked Kaidan, I almost never saved ashley.

You DO know what he says right before that, right?

"I guess my father raised me so well--"

That sounds a LOT like he resents him, right? Or not....

And, it's hard to argue a point when you're giving vague things like "His tone of voice" and "when he's referring to," as opposed to actual dialog.

You humans are all racist!

Surprised it took this long for racist to pop up.
Although to be fair, he was one of the least interesting characters, ahead of Jack, because I despised her, and just behind Miranda, while in terms of interesting character they're equal, I just can't deny DAT BUTT.

Hating him would require him to have a personality to hate.

Thinking about things and seeing them firsthand could be quite different.

Back to topic: no, I don't hate him. I rather like him, as well as Kaidan. Both seems to be quite normal guys, without those "owlookatmeiqmsospecialwithquirktype", and Jacob... well. it's seems like idealist part of him still alive. I'd prefer too keep that part alive in future, because when idealist dies inside someone, we got another cynic. And we have pretty much of those.

Cant' say much for their romance parts for obvious reasons, but I doubt there is much difference between mShep and fShep romances in general (a.k.a. "alle schrott").

You seems to belong to old guard, just imagine love triangle between Kasumi, Jacob and your Shepard, like in good old times between Aerie, Haer'Dalis and Bhaalspawn. Why they are not presented in ME... Ow, wait, I know why - "money and time constraint". Silk lingerie DLC is sooo much more important and plotwise.... oh, well, jedem das seine.

I said I was paraphrasing, no need to be an ass. "Not even he could screw up what he taught me." There, you happy?

And tone of voice goes a long way in describing personality, and nuances thereof. Jacob was MORE than willing to let his father rot on that planet, and did nothing but ridicule and lecture him the entire time they were there. So yes, I still believe he did resent his father.

You think he's great, I can't stand him, and thankfully won't have to because I'm getting Kaidan back. Someone with more personality than an Ymir mech.

Who hates Jacob?

I think he is one of the better new characters in Mass Effect 2. He is part of Cerberus but not some jerk.

Jacob is just boring. Could there have been a worse sole human male romance option for FemShep in ME2?

Even if he isn't your boyfriend, I still don't like Jacob. He's uninteresting and unoriginal. And his body shape looks weird in that outfit...

The relationship with Jacob requires you to push past your own petty insecurities. I admit, I was a little put off when he basically told my femshep to GTFO in the beginning... BUT, when I tried again and gave him a chance, he proved to be a deep and feeling person, with a great deal of sensitivity and insight. He offered honest love and care, and was within his right to demand the same. He was the ONLY LI in ME2 that asked femshep how she was dealing with things and allowed her a chance to vent.

Jacob gets beaten over the head with the same label of "boring" that Kaidan gets. Yet, it is my assertion that both characters have much to offer for those who dare to dig deeper, and do indeed discover the prize of romancing these lovely humans.

Calm down, I didn't insult you, or call you names. No one's being an @ss.

I think you're forgetting that Jacob's father killed off the other officers, and set up his own private harem of mentally deficient women. Can you really call it "resenting his father" when he is willing to let him rot for that?

And, no I don't think Jacob is just great. I don't really care for any character in the ME series. But it's absurd to say he has daddy issues.

The problem with Jacob's romance seems to be Shepard, not Jacob himself.
