Hi, im having issues with getting ME3 Demo to work on my laptop.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Origin and the demo several times.  I have allowed both to work with my virus scanner and turned off my firewall.  DirectX is also up to date.

What is happening is it will download and install fine, but when i load the game and get to the menu and click single or multi player it loads for a minute, black screens, goes back to my desk top and i get the error something along the lines of "windows has stopped working with Mass Effect 3 Demo, Windows is trying to find a solution and will let you know when one is avaliable" and then it never gives me an option other then end the program.

Running windows 7 Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel® Pentium® CPU P6200 @ 2.13GHz 2.13GHz
RAM 4.00GB
64-bit Operating System

Please help! :(

Thanks!

What's your GPU? That is the most likely culprit.

Yup, Video chipset would be my guess as well.

If you don't know the chipset, the make and model of the laptop would be a starting point, or could go to a site like this

http://www.systemreq...cyri/intro.aspx

.....enter Mass Effect 3 in the search and that will analyze the hardware in your machine and compare it to the specs for the game, but it will also list out all your hardware in a nice easy to read format for your own use. In general though, that site isn't the best judge of hardware needed to run games. ( I just like the quick system summary it can get you without tons of digging).

Since that is a notebook at hand and that processor does have a integrated GPU in it. It's more than likely that it is using the integrated GPU over a dedicated one. Meaning it's cheaper to produce, but also less powerful to run games.

If you have alot of applications in the background, try turning them off to releaf the load on the CPU.

Also, try lowering the resolution & details in ME3.

If it still persists, try disableing Origin in game. It was causing ME3 to immediatly freeze upon start up, and I can assure you my laptop ain't a cheap knockoff.

Just remembered, can also try running the config program to make sure all settings are correct before you launch the game. It's in......

\\Origin\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\Binaries

....on whatever drive/folder you installed to.

This can fix the problem, but like mentioned. Unfortunetly most computers without a proper GPU is not really designed for more than browsing the web.

As he did mention he has a labtop, and noting the CPU can support I think 6-8 GB of ram, and that he has 4GB ram available on a 64-bit os, kinda implies its abit on the cheaper side.

But well, hopefully the B33ker's idea will be sufficent. Would feel sorry otherwise that you have to miss out such a promising game.

brutalyoutspoken, how can you expect us to help you if you haven't provided the single most important bit of information? You need to tell us what your PC's graphics chip is. Otherwise we're just fumbling in the dark.

That tool is very inaccurate. It can be used for checking your specs but not for checking if you actually meet the requirements. Their GPU check is so wrong that on new entry-level PCs the output from that tool is almost always wrong.

To OP: Even if you haven't posted the GPU, I can already see the CPU is below the requirements. Pentiums are not supported, even the dual-core Pentiums.

Odds are he is not directly aware of it... as that CPU has the inbuilt GPU, wich is horrible.

So to take my guess, it uses the inbuilt GPU. :/

Hence why I said, I like it mostly for the nice system summary it gives and don't rely on it for anything else.

For the non-tech savvy person though, it's an easy way to get the info they needed to give me when I worked as a tech so I could diagnose issues a lot of the time.

I'm going to guess they either gave up or got eaten by a Husk though at this point.  Image IPB
