I'm sure I'm not the first to complain about this.  What's with the lack of dark skin tones?  I have been playing Mass Effect for years, since close to launch of the first game.  I decided this time around I wanted to make a Black FemShep.  I took her to the darkest skin tone, and found out, it's not all that dark.  The darkest skin tone, in fact, is the same skin tone I'd use for an Asian woman.  At the beginning of Mass Effect 2, when Shepard wakes up on the table, the lighting makes her look almost white.  The only time my character looks black is when I'm in a dark area, and there isn't that much lighting on my character.  Both Anderson and Taylor look dark.  I'm wondering why their dark skin tones were left out of character creation?

I'm not labeling BioWare racist by any means.  My only question is, if a developer sees this, could you "patch" 3 to have darker skin tones?

I'm black.

I don't care. Not important. And, the darkest ARE fairly...dark.

Why do you need to tell me you're black?  I'm white.  Congrats?

I'm not saying this is the most important issue in the world, or even to the game.  Simple thought.  And a request that I doubt will ever be done.  But I figured I'd put my opinion out there.  And there's really only one dark skin tone.  I haven't seen if the male has different skin tones than the female, however.  But as far as the female goes, she never really looks black.

I just went through the intro to check your statement about them not looking black...with a male.

I'll do it with a female this time, and see if it's true.

Just made a female with the darkest skin tone. For the very first scene--zooming in on your face from the top--you have a point. But after that, it's fairly clear she's black.

There's a lot of lighting like that. Oh well.

I made a male Shepard with the skin-tone on the same slider-position as it was in ME1.
It was almost the most pale skin-tone, thought it seemed logical with a Spacer-Background(grown up on ships, pale because of artificial lighting).

As I started the ME3-demo I was shocked! Shepards skin-tone looked more unhealthy than the husks!
Pale as a Vampire.

I don't know, but palest of skins look good again in this game (they were too pale in ME2).

Really? I guess I'm not alone, then.

If someone sued BioWare over this...just fail.

My Shepard seemed quite dark to me, I always play with a creamy chocolate Shepard.

I think it's just the lightening that's the issue.
