Jack.
But how could you not like Tali?

Rampant Miranda fans.

Lol so true. Especially since the leak.

I fail to see how liking Miranda has any correlation with disliking Tali.

Jack, Kaidan, And Jacob, not that I hate them.. It's just that I find them rather uninteresting, well.. Except for Jack, I hate her.. :)

If we're including non squad mate characters though, I don't like Udina at all. I think he's a slimy little ba...erm politician

She's a walking quarian wikipedia, and has very little backstory for herself. She's basically a codex with legs.

That's my reasoning.

Garrus has less, and he still is a squadmate in Mass Effect 3. Backstory is important now than an actual good character? Legion has no backstory completely. No previous history or personality. Yet Legion is an awesome character. Reasoning there.

I dunno what Legion has to do with anything, but he suffers the same problem.

Yeah, backstory is pretty important if you want people to give a damn about your character.

Next you'll tell me there's no correlation between liking Tali and liking Garrus. Or of liking TIM and being a renegade.

What does this have to do with being a Miranda fan, specifically?

The hell are you talking about?

What does any of this have to do with liking 1 character, but disliking another?

One being a favorite and not like another. I have long studied the darkness that is BSN, and I have deemed some hold a particuler LI over another.

Again, what does this have to do with Miranda?

You can extend that to ANYONE ELSE, and it'll be just as valid.

It's a simple fact that people on the BSN who like or dislike certain characters have a tendency to like or dislike certain others, or to share the opinions and beliefs of said favourite character.  That's the point.

I have no idea why you are obsessed with backstory. Shepard has no backstory other than we read some text, yet he/she is the most important character in the game.
When I refer to other characters, I simply am comparing and giving examples. Backstory is in no way crucial to the way Mass Effect plays out, but its always nice when its there.

Oh look a hate thread. I am sure this will lead to a fair and engaging debate.

So much hate... but to be OT:

Jacob, Miranda, Ash/Kaidan. Though I wouldn't say hate per se. I find Jacob to be bland, and Miri to be a stuck up b*tch. VS I never liked really, even in ME1. Making Ash sexy isn't really gonna change my opinion of her though. Maybe I'll end up liking her if she's interesting in ME3.

You are right that it could be extended to anyone, but I've always found that Miranda fans have always clashed on Bioware's squad decision for ME3.

I liked them all. Jacob was a good guy. I don't get people's problem with him. He was a decent honest/straight forward dude.

The only character that I didn't like as much as the otherrs was Jack. She was too... aggressive for me.

I think people didn't like Jacob for the same reason some people didn't like Kaidan, he's just sort of there, he doesn't really make a really big impact on the story, and he's a bit boring.

I know. It took two pages for Udina to be mentioned. Once.

I could've sworn this was common knowledge. I'm surprised you had to explain it.

Brought up once = obsessed now? Ok then.

Shepard has little backstory because it's SUPPOSED to be that way. It's intentionally vague to help seat yourself as Shepard. For the people that like to RP, it presents the chance to make your own backstory for him. Being the playable character is the only decent reason to lack a story.

I never said backstory is important to the game as a franchise, I said it's important to the characters within. Dunno about you, but I don't find characters who just show up, speak a few lines, then do nothing else for the rest of the story particularly interesting.

If you plan on holding an argument with someone, make sure you know what you're talking about.
