I have no idea why you are obsessed with backstory. Shepard has no backstory other than we read some text, yet he/she is the most important character in the game.
When I refer to other characters, I simply am comparing and giving examples. Backstory is in no way crucial to the way Mass Effect plays out, but its always nice when its there.
Brought up once = obsessed now? Ok then.
Shepard has little backstory because it's SUPPOSED to be that way. It's intentionally vague to help seat yourself as Shepard. For the people that like to RP, it presents the chance to make your own backstory for him. Being the playable character is the only decent reason to lack a story.
I never said backstory is important to the game as a franchise, I said it's important to the characters within. Dunno about you, but I don't find characters who just show up, speak a few lines, then do nothing else for the rest of the story particularly interesting.
If you plan on holding an argument with someone, make sure you know what you're talking about.
Key to being a BSN user: Push a non existant point whenever possible.
My original point being that backstory is important to a character. Your reply had almost nothing to do with what I said. Clearly I'm the one pushing a non-existent point.
