And yet, the reviewers so far have said they're using the PS3 version.

Welll I have a 360 and a PS3 and I'm almost certain that the PS3 does not have a B or A button.

well i think they got the cutscene runtime wrong, in the other mass effects its longer than that, and a 10 hour game like uncharted has just over an hour worth of cutscenes,

Actually, the final score isn't set yet, because they obviously could not test the PC controls and GFX.

The scores:

Sound: 10/10
Balance 9/10
Atmosphere: 9/10
Longevity: 9/10
Quests: 10/10
Character System: 10/10
Combat System: 8/10
Items: 9/10

So either the reviewers are lying about what version they're testing, or it's a conspiracy and BW are paying them off.

Ah, but if those are the PS3 'scores', then the PC can't get any lower. Unless they BSOD when they start the game or something.

It's possible that BW has supplied them with 360 footage, though.

There are referring to pre rendered cut scenes, I guess, because 90min of all of the cut scenes seems to be too little.
But I could be wrong :)

Is this in a magazine or is it online?
If it is online can someone post the link please? All I can find are previews....

It's a magazine, yes. They will post a review online though as soon as the game hits the shelves.

If ME3 AI is "stupid" and is the reason why combat gets an 8, what did they give for ME2 then?

anyone know what their score was for that AI?

They gave both ME1 & ME2 8/10 for the combat system ( which the AI is criticized).
The PC Version of ME3 could have better AI though.

Very nice indeed.

They've rated it higher than they rated ME1 and ME2, so that's a good sign.

Uncharted is pretty much one big cutscene.. bad comparison.

I'm hoping their right...:D:D:D

Only 90 minutes of cutscene in a 15-20 hr game? I'd love that...

(weird, why would a PC magazine then review a console version first? Anyway, what does the "items" category actually represent? Never seen that in a ranking system...)

Google Translate says the last paragraph of the review, posted at that German ME site, is:

Like so many fans I was disappointed by the relatively parlous state of demo. But now that I've played through Mass Effect 3 completely, I can rest easy. Wow, what a game! What a great story, which culminates in a final addition, the science fiction trilogy concludes more than worthy. Well, Mass Effect 3 as its predecessor, more action than RPG. But by now you have become accustomed. I advise even the most traditional genre purists: try it out! Otherwise, he missed a grand space-epic narrated that is unparalleled in its drama and force of his peers now. and not found.

Nice endorsement.

Well, not really, not yet. This is not their final score. They need to get the PC version first.

Stupid AI?

Im betting that the author dident play on Insanity/or Hardcore so thats why the AI was standing out in the open doing Jack.

Lower difficulty settings are suppose to be a cakewalk in the full game afterall.

15-20 hours main quest sounds good. With sidequest the time is doubled, and you need to do as many of them as you can, unless you want to get slaughtered during the final mission and see Earth/Galaxy in ruins.

Could be true. What is quite funny is that he is saying that on the one hand side the normal difficulty is harder than in ME2 but on the other hand side he claims that the AI isn't much of an improvement :D

Not necessarily...then again, what AI enemies are the reviewers comparing it to or is just the "AI" in of itself with regard to the combat?

The Mars mission in that IGN video showed the narrator talking and playing, with the 'press A' prompt, so it looks like footage they recorded...and not something BW sent. So does this mean they have the X360 version? But why review the PS3 one then?

They have a sister magazine called GamePro, which is a console magazine and they work together with Gamestar.

Yeah, there are 88 minutes of pre-rendered cutscenes. The ESRB rating confirmed this.

The in-game rendered ones (like all the conversations) are much more, in terms of time.

Sounds good.  Mind you ME3 was always going to be showered with positive reviews and given the token knock off point here and there.

The PS3 does not have an A button.

Maybe they are trying to make it look like the issues are confined to the PS3. Over 800k pre-orders vs 170k after all.
But from what I've seen thats 360 footage anyway you slice it.

My bad.

At any rate, it seems on track to get a very good score from them.

I assume this also means that we won't have to wait until release day for most reviews to be posted.

-Graphically, the low polycount, lack of detail and low texture resolution disappoints- the characters are well animated and modeled however, and the overall look, despite its age, is quite moody

They played the PS3 version, but supposedly, the PC version gets a high-res texture pack. They could not test that yet, though.

It was announced through Twitter that there won't be a texture pack. They said high-res textures are built-in, which is likely the same low texture quality as the demo. Chris Priestly once said ME2 has high-res textures so they just have low standards in that area.

LivingHitokiri wrote...

The textures on PC where already miles better than the consoles on the demo

They were exactly the same, which is why people complained so much.
