This is good to see, I seem to remember Gamestar being quite critical even of ME2 so it's possible they were hard to please.

Excatly, the reviews for DA2 were generally positive yet the game was a disaster.

I neither care these reviews nor take into consideration, i am going to play ME3 whatever they say negatively or positively.

In your opinion. In others opinions it was a game that warranted an 8/10 or so. Funny that.

I guess the signs are great but.. do people still believe official reviews? :) Even when they're not incompetent or blatantly biased, you have to wonder at their objectivity.

Depends on the reviewer.

I personally have never heard of Gamestar so I'll sit on the fence until I play the game I myself.

If it were PC Gamer, I'd flatly disbelieve anything they said, even if it sounded good. Any publication that gives something like DA2 a 94% rating is either staffed by fanbois or simply doesn't know how to review a game.

Exactly, whatever faith I had left in game reviews was squashed deep into the dirt with DA2.

In my own opinion, it was the worst Bioware game in a long time - or possibly ever. Not disastrous, an okay game, but nothing more than that.. while reviewers were going gaga all over the place about it. Sheesh.

my god a positive review what will all the flameboys and children on BSN make of that.

I really cant wait for the 9th and the arrival of my CE edition (hopefully)

You mean like the positive reviews from DA2. We all know how much those reviews are worth.

This. Game reviewing sites gave out positive reviews, i will wait for my copy and then rate it. But i am expecting that i will enjoy ME3.

You can't trust gaming reviews.

Well if you were one of those people who felt DA2 was worth 8/10 you probably give the review more credibility thats how reviews work.

-Graphically, the low polycount, lack of detail and low texture resolution disappoints- the characters are well animated and modeled however, and the overall look, despite its age, is quite moody

They played the PS3 version, but supposedly, the PC version gets a high-res texture pack. They could not test that yet, though.

91 hours??!?!

How the hell can ANY game take that long?

Even in insanity when I scanned ALL the planets and did all the sidequests and upgraded everything (main game only) came up to 25 hours.

25h for Insanity and all planet scanned? Wow :D That is fast. You skipped all the dialog ?
But no matter what... you have to be a pretty good player :D kudos :)

I'm still happy that the MQ is about 15 hours long.

25 hours for insanity is NOT impressive....

I'm pretty sure the standard insanity "all planets scanned, everyone loyal" main game is under 20 hours....

It doesn't say 91h!!!!   It says 25h for main mission or 40h total with all side missions.
Which isn't much really for a good RPG.

mass effect 1 was just over 30 hours, and mass effect 2 was 45 hours, thats on normel, and i have friends that have done it in about the same time,

and that is BS to complete mass effect 2 with all loyalty missions and side missions complete on insanity under 25 hours, unless you skip all the cutscenes but even than no

Many reviewers gave DA2 a positive reviews. In fact, DA2 has more postive reviews than negative reviews. Should I say they all suck now?

You really shouldn't take reviews too seriously.

When the "Critic reviews" are twice as high as the user reviews something is wrong.

Love how people take review scores so seriously, when they are simply a blatent case of appeasing fanboys who can skulk off happiliy knowing their beloved franchise has got it's deserved 95% and wont stop visiting their site.
Scores from most mainstream sites are borderline fraudulent, though the actual review, ie the words and arguments put forth are still quite good and what you need to pay attention to.

If reviewers give it 9/10, fanatics will scream BW paid the reviewers. If it gets 1/10, BW have lost it, they're going under, sold out etc. Nothing will please the fanatics.

User reviews are no better than professional ones: http://www.metacriti...assins-creed-ii

The magazine features a 8 pages long review but it's coming out wednesday. You have to wait till thursday to see the scans. But 8 page long review will be likely full of spoilers

How about giving it a honest score instead of the LOL IT ROX 10/10 or the LOL IT SUX 1/10.

Technically, thats how *poor quality* reviews work. Any idiot can dream up an opinion and smash it down in black and white, you don't pay good money to read stuff like that.

A *high quality* review analyses the game and gives you an honest appraisal of what a game does well, does so-so, does badly and doesn't do. Even if the reviewer hates the game, a good review should be able to differentiate between what is the reviewers opinion and what is objectively good and bad.

In DA2's case, a game that was loaded with bugs, recycled its environments to comedic levels and had a go-nowhere storyline (complete with a Plan 9 From Outer Space-quality ending) simply can't justify the same grade given to games that are recognised as the classics of the market - if for no other reasons than it opens up the question why games that were similar to DA2 in execution got much lower scores.

You want users to give honest reviews? You know most clowns on metacritic only use 10/10 or 1/10.

And the AC2 'professional' reviews present a far more honest picture than the user ones.

This is the highest they have given a ME game. So it's still all good.

They gave DA2 87%.....

And?

It's only worth a score of around 60%

I think you forgot to put the words 'in', 'my' and 'opinion' in there somewhere.

Its because users will claim a game is average and then proceed to give it a 1 or a 10. Fans will give any game a 10, and haters will give it a 1 for the smallest of reasons. User reviews are virtually useless.

In summary, the game builds on the strenghts of ME2 and takes some notes from ME1 to create the most compelling experience in the franchise yet.

Dragon Age 2 though suffers from "jump the bandwagon" reviewing as well with regard to negative...

Personally, I do think it is a solid 70-80 if I had to score it...Not fantastic or the next coming of RPGs, but definitely worth my money...
