Human Adept - Shockwave Issue

So, after playing a few matches as a human adept on Firebase White it seems to me that between waves 6 and 9 shockwave simply does not do anything at all. It wont knock guardians back, it won't knock anyone back, and it won't detonate any warped enemies. My shockwave is specced for radius, distance and the midair suspension.

Anyone else notice something like this? I'll have to see if the same thing happens on Ghost.

My adept uses Shockwave constantly to stagger Guardians and get their shields out of the way, and I did some Biotic explosions with Singularity + Shockwave... :?

Never had a problem with staggers or shockwave bombs.

It knocks guardian's shields to side, so you can land a headshot at them... it doesn't work btw if someone has triggered their "knock back animation", and that sucks.

But yeah, Shockwave is more like Shockfail. I don't like it and enemies will always roll away from it (or into it, but because they roll, they aren't affected by it). It's a crap ability. I wish they would give us pull instead.

Rolling cancels a lot of powers not just shockwave. Personally I find it quite useful.

Even with the distance upgrade, Shockwave range is really deceptive. I took several ranks with the Vanguard, now I regret it somewhat, because it's basically only good for two things: kill Guardians (better than Biotic Charging them head on for sure) and slow down/stagger the Atlas.

I think I will just take a single point in SW in the full game because of Guardians and be done with it.

Problem with a single point is that it stops you levelling one of your other ones. Thats not worth the sacrifice for the vanguard. Definitely worth a good investment for the adept though.

@drakeSVK, why not just put one point in Pull in SP? Much more straightforward way to deal with Guardians.

Never experienced this problem. Love the shockwave, by the way. It has very specific purposes, like knocking back the guardians' shields, giving you just enough time to line up a headshot with your shotgun. Always satisfying. I like powers that are not all purpose, but are effective in certain situations.

Shockwave will be definitely be useful even for the vanguard in sp when there will be more points to spread around. I found it great comboing off of Liaras singularity. In mp it's just not worth the investment imo due to the limited points.

I was talking about MP, not SP, and Vanguards don't have Pull.

No guys, you don't get it. The OP literally says that it doesn't do ANYTHING.

I had the same bug - Shockwave goes right through someone, and doesn't inflict ANY damage, doesn't stagger, doesn't drain shields, doesn't throw. Like you haven't used it AT ALL. That is a bug I have encountered not one time and only with this power. That needs fixing.

I play human adept... for guardians... shockwave and then shotgun - Katana X...solves the problem quickly. You need to be close up to the guardian when you unleash shockwave though... from a distance its not as powerful. Now that's usually the only time I use shockwave...I prefer singularity, and warp... and warp & Katana X shotgun...makes for a very quick and efficient kill

I don't know about that, since my Shockwave is max force and distance and works just fine...BTW, you can actually detonate a Warped enemy with a Shockwave. That opened up a whole world of possibilities for me.

I have this problem, too. Sucks since the only effect of my only crowd control power (fully leveled) is that it triggers cooldown and looks funny. No effect on enemies whatsoever.

Never had the OP's problem - sounds like some kinda bizar glitch. Nothing I or anyone I know has experienced.

That said the only actual 'problem' I see with Shockwave, and I should say first I love the ability. It's fantastic, really, super useful and all that. But it flails your screen around. Now for the Adept them selves its minor and your screens fine by the time you can shoot and in single player - no biggy.

Having a screen shake due to your team mates in multiplayer is horrible. Really bad, and as much as I like tossing around as a human adept I often don't because I can't use shockwave to often near my teammates cause there shots go all over the place. It's... just kind of a bummer I guess. Wish they'd take out the excessive screen-shake effecting Team Mates specifically cause that causes more problems then its worth sometimes.

Oops - I wasn't aware that it shook your team mates up. Apologies to all who may have suffered at my hands in multiplayer during my shockwave spam period.

I enjoy using shockwave. There is little that is more satisfying than launching an enemy, crying "pull!" and committing them to eternity with a shotgun blast in mid-fall.

But I have encountered this bug as well, mostly with other powers. For example, I will use Charge and the intended target will just stand there, shooting me, fazed in the least.

I experienced this bug as well. Playing Human Male Adept a lot and indeed there are waves where Shockwave does nothing. Very frustrating....

The reading comprehension demonstrated in this thread is just sad.

I recently started having the same problem with my Human Adept's Shockwave. It works fine at the start of a game, but after awhile it simply stops doing anything. No damage, no stagger, no detonations, nothing. I can have an enemy directly in front of me, spam 10 Shockwaves in a row, and not one of them will do anything at all.

This started happening when I leveled up my Shockwave, speccing it for Radius and Reach. Before that, I never experienced this bug, so I'm guessing it's a bug with one of those. My Vanguard never experiences this bug with her low-level Shockwave either.

I've had this problem pop up a few times.

Unlike other issues (vanguard getting map-glitched and becoming worthless/falling through the level because of it from charging) it's not clear to me what causes it. I don't think it's a "wave-specific" phenomenon, just that the odds for it go up as the game progresses.

It sort of like social.bioware.comnimation/visual effect, but ceases to have any physical impact in the world. It passes through all opponents without any stagger/damage/etc. of any kind. It can't detonate or do anything else.

I don't think it's... "common", or at least, I've had it come up fewer times than the map-glitch with vanguard. I think it's happened about three times to me. (N7 level 113 or some such).
