Wut it sayz on da tin? How about you have to do some timed button presses to avoid instand death? But not like spam the button contstantly, I mean something more challenging :)

Mm...no.

I can see the appeal I guess but it makes no sense to me. You've been downed by a rocket to the upper torso or a blade through the visor...you're literally lay there bleeding out, struggling to hold on, calling for help from your team.

Operative word there, for me, is: struggling. Performing a series of timed button presses just doesn't "fit".

No, I meant, when the do the instant kill animation, you would have 1 second to react and survive sometimes :P

But...neither one hit kill you...

Unless of course you've skipped up to an Atlas & he boots you in the face. If you do that, you don't deserve the second chance :'3.

Both have one hit kill animations. Atlas grabs you and squashes you, and a phantom can cancel your attack and go into 1 hit kill stab animation. After that you can't be revived.

^You might not 'deserve' a second chance, but the game gives you one anyway. It's called a Reload From Last Checkpoint. Posted Image

Phantoms do feel kinda cheap atm though. The only answers I know right now is biotic charge and shotguns.

:Unlike the other two posters I understand what you mean, and agree that it should be something you can do to avoid death...similar to Mechassault 2 when you could fight for control of the Mech when a Battlearmor latched on...both players pressed a button combination and whoever was fastest and most accurate won.

Less high road, more share your loaf?

I've never seen a Phantom insta-gib someone, much less me. I don't give them CHANCE too but even when I've been caught off guard, never seen it. So an explanation could go a long way in this case. Like, what causes this insta-gib?

And all things that Beatrix listed can kill Phantoms relatively fast on MP

Yes I know, I'm a level 20 Vanguard and I know the drill, but sometimes I get killed, because my attack got canceled, or charge bugged and then a phantom just 1 shots me.

I mean anything challenging, with a very small time frame. Just a chance, you fail - you fail. But when a phantom just stabs you when it was 2 meters away from you is just cheap.

MP is a team effort. The trick with Phantoms is to spot them in time so you (and the other teammembers) can take them out before they can get too close - or (cowards only) run away ;)

Well on gold, when 2-3 phantoms are chasing everyone of us, turrets are firing from everywhere and 3-4 Atlases are prancing around not to mention other troopers it's kind of hard to cooperate. And as I said phantoms sometime cheat by gutting you when they were nowhere near you.

The ranged one-hits need to be fixed, yes. But that doesn't really support the request you are making. While I do not necessarily disagree with it, I just think that it is unneeded. Even as a Vanguard, you should very rarely find yourself in a situation that will have you killed.

As Leto I said, 'Knowing that there is a trap is the first step in avoiding it.' Experience will allow you to avoid the one-shots moreso than any quicktime event.

I know how to play, I'm not good, but I know how to handle myself. But It's really a bummer when you enter some cabin in Firebase Ghost for example and see a Phantom crouched behind cover, I charge her and then want to go Nova, cuz there's no one around. Charge hits but glitches out, she teleports out of cover, cancels my Nova and stabs me. And I blame myself for letting the team down. They have a lot of health + barriers and a palm gun + sword, why can't they just slash me down or shoot me like everyone else? :P

A competent shooter with marginal situational awareness can take down a phantom without being impaled. It's called looking around you.Posted Image

Again, glitches suck. But you don't fix glitches by implementing mechanics to work around them. You fix the glitches by fixing the glitches.

On Silver or Bronze, I stomp them. I go 1 on 2-3 and go out alive. But on Gold, there not much time to look around, you make split second decisions, cuz if you don't you're dead. I do not have Stasis, I can't cloak. Charge is my savior, but to survive, I must constantly fight and go near the enemies. And when you are pressured by an Atlas and a Phantom and a turret, and you have to also rush to rez a teammate, who is down and out of self-rezes, but you know you need him, or you will all die, then it gets insane :P
