How will importing your ME2 carreer into ME3 work?

Okay, let me explain this question:

In ME1, when you finished the game, a special file with all your choices was created. There was no post-main story content in ME1. When you defeated Sovereign, your carreer was done and the special file was created. This file was used to import your carreer into ME2.

However, ME2 does not seem to make a special file like ME1 did. When you beat the main story line, you can continue to play as much as you want. You can finish some unfinished quests, you can do all the DLC post-main story and you can do all the side-quests post-main story.

So, how will we be able to import our ME2 carreer into ME3? Will ME3 just use the regular save-files for importation (instead of a special file)?

If ME3 uses your regular ME2 save-files for import, does that mean I can also import an unfinished carreer (a save-file where I didn't beat the main story line)? How does that work?

My guess is, it will recognize the important choices from your save and incorporate in ME3.

The number of choices that are taken into account may be many, I am not sure how many though :P

I believe ME3 will use the same format as ME2 did.

When you import an ME2 game to start a New Game Plus, only the saves in a given career that are flagged as having completed the Suicide Mission are shown.

I see. I never ever did a NG+ on ME2, so I didn't know that.

Indeed the way it should work is that a save that is post suicide mission is transferable to ME3.

I think it will work similar to how Dragon Age 2 did it when they provided the character and a list of saves for that character that were flagged as completed.

Hopefully it works something like that, I would hate for it to be import right after the suicide mission. Personally the most recent/ furthest completed save after the suicide mission should be what we can pick.

I want to know too.

I finished The Arrival after the Suicide Mission on Insanity (New Character)

I hope it works better than DA2.  The import messed up so many plot flags it was unbelievable.

From what I understand, once you finish the suicide mission alive, that particular profile is flagged as being able to be transfer to ME3 no matter what you do at that point. That way you can finish the DLC after the suicide mission.
It wouldn't make sense to prevent us from carrying over the DLC we bought and finished after the game - Arrival even has a slightly different scene at the end of the mission based on whether or not you finished the suicide mission.

Had BioWare said anything regarding bonus powers? Will bonus powers from ME2 be available in ME3?

I think I recall several devs stating that while you can play Lair of the Shadow Broker anytime you want once you've completed Horizon, it was mainly created with the idea in mind that people had already gone through the Suicide Mission.

Considering the above, I'm pretty sure your post-Suicide Mission saves are accounted for.

They said that the bonus powers we had in ME2 won't carry over.
