Is this a bug, or WAI?

Can't access the sliders as they are greyed out.

Only on Dorfs with beards. Because you can't see your mouth/jaw.

If you mean after you put on a beard, yup noticed that too.

Leaves a gap (EQ2 does the same thing and it looks horid)

Only thing I can suggest is fiddle with the jaw etc then slap on the beard and see if it works.

EDIT:  It does the same for Human male beards too.

I think it just reverts back to a default style. Probably to prevent clipping.

Yes full beards are in effect a piece of a model file if I am not mistaken (like hair) thus for them to fit properly some attributes will be greyed out when you choose them.

If you mess with the sliders first and then put on a beard, it will keep your setting for the first beard option. any other beard option will revert it to default.

This looks weird to me. THIS looks like a bug that's worth fixing. I think that the sliders should be locked to avoid this kind of behavior.

Lucky for me I wanted the first beard anyway, so I could edit the cheeks and jaw, then add the beard.

If your face is too big though you do get clipping, so you may need to try a few times to get it right.

I dont mind there being a set form of jaw to go with the beards so it wont clip or cause other issues, but sadly there is a gap between the skin and the beard, making the beard look fake. I do hope this will be fixed before release or through a patch since furthermore I really love the beards in this game.

the solution is easy actually, you make all the modifications for your character before adding the beard,i mean EVERYTHING and then you just click on the beard you want, not scroll with the bar to the beard you want.So you must know where the beard is on that bar... .My English ain't the best but i hope you understood.PS:works on PC.

I'd just like to point out that it doesn't work for the console users. Just saving people some time here.

I'd just stick with stubble until they fix this. If they fix this.

Beards make Male Dwarven heads look like a skull. Stubble's better.

Yeah, the head models look really weird when you cant edit jaw etc. But look at the post i quoted earler. Make the corrections for jaw/mouth then just hit the place on the slider where the beard you want is. That way you will keep the jaw/mouth settings you made.

Some of course will cause clipping, but I suggest finding the beard you want, then find out its limits with jaw and such before it starts to clip. Works for me! :)

Still gotta get my new puder built before I can play DA:O, & I just plain ran outta patience on waiting till I can play the Main Game before I could fix my Avatar's prior Beard Build. I got tired of the Elder Skull Guy look, & couldn't wait for fixability opportunity anymore, so I fired the Beard instead. :)

I have no regrets. Now, my Avatar looks young & strong, not like a Darkspawn Prisoner starved for several weeks, toting a Beard that looks like a fake beard prop from a gag shop. :P

If we were at a bar, I'd buy you a drink.

Actually the idea that there would be a clipping problem is directly contradicted by the preset faces that have beards. Each of those that have beards also have custom jaw lines perfectly fit whatever beard model they are adorned with in their pristine state. When you make any change to the preset, the cheeks and jaw suck inwards and you get the hollowed out effect.

I call it a bug they've neglected to fix.

People have been talking about this bug for AGES, and it is probably never going to get fixed. Grrr
