Grettings fellow ME fans,
I was looking at several ME3 news when I read we can "Promote a multiplayer character to Galaxy at War".
Do you have more detailed info on that "procedure"?
Thank You for your help.
What does "Promote a multiplayer character to Galaxy at War" mean?

As far as I know there is no word yet on what the procedure is. Actually I'm still not sure what the Galaxy at War system is.

No-one knows the exact procedure yet, but promoting a character increases your "galactic readiness" in single player mode. And basically the better your readiness the better you'll do against the reapers.

It's Mass Effect speak for "Reset your ****."

i think what will happen is you have this "gathering assets" aspect of the SP part of the game that makes you "ready" for the final showdown...
i think that when you promote a character it basically just allows you to skip gathering those assets and instead using the characters from MP to increase the "ready" level...
just my theory...

As long as that doesn't mean you enter Prestige..

If I was to wager I guess and I've said that promotion would place the MP Character INSIDE the War Assets (where non-permanent squadmates like Wrex, Miranda, Mordin and Legion will be) for SP (GaW is known to be related to SP). I'm guessing the more people you have in there the better...I think this would also reset the Level of the character to zero... Just my two cents though...

I heard somewhere that once you reach level 20 with a MP cahracter you can send them to fight the reapers to improve your galactic readiness. What send them to fight the reapers means I don't know hopefully it will be a special MP map or it might just be a button you hit. Your MP character will be reset to level 1 after.

I'll try with a level 20 soldier, I wont sacrifice my level 20 engineer for this.

I promoted my soldier and got 10 N7 levels and all my soldiers were level 1 again. All the appearance options remained the same. Not sure if it affects the single player game.

Promoting your toon doesn't increase your galactic readiness, simply playing MP does. Promoting gives you another war asset. Total war assets * %galactic readiness = some cool and important number.

So it basicallly does nothing? Given the readiness is already at 100%?
Fancy way of a character reset?

Give you 75 points per character promoted, you'll get a tab on N7 Spec Ops in your SP war assets tab. You'll also get a email from Hackett explaining what the Spec Ops is.
What I want to know is does the Spec Ops carry over from playthrough to playthrough. 100% galactic readiness already makes it easy as hell to get the 'best' ending. 75 points per roughly 4 hours of multi isn't really that great.

75 points on what scale? What is the max points?
#16
Posté 09 mars 2012 - 01:57
I don't know what the max is, but that's a decent number. Completing a sizable sidequest might give you 50, and it's possible for the 5th fleet asset--yes, the whole 5th fleet--to be worth as little as 65.

So what is promoting? Leveling your character? Or is it when you get to Level 20 you're promoted?
#18
Posté 09 mars 2012 - 07:45
Promoting is simply "promoting" the character up from his current fights to Shepard's war assets.
Basically putting him in Shepard's command, allowing that character to help the fight, since he has proven himself by getting to Level 20.

So how do you promote said character then?

Posté 09 mars 2012 - 07:51
After reaching Level 20, in the character selection menu, an option should be there saying "Promote"..

By the look of it - Character select, highlight your Lvl 20, Y (on Xbox, probably triangle on PS3 and some letter on PC). Option is greyed out by default so should be different when you are in a position to do that.
Might be interesting if, sometime in the future, I start a new SP character and get automatically 100+ points from these Spec-ops characters as assets.
EDIT - Oh 75 each, so 2 characters worth more than a fully upgraded SR2 imported from ME2. Sounds like quite an offer.

So wait, 'promoting' a multiplayer character will make each of my new characters started in ME3 get an additional 75 experience? Including imported ones? Or am I completely not thinking here?

No you start with 75 more war assets per promotion.

Edited to further explain entire class promotion and N7 Levels
When you reach level 20 in multiplayer, you'll have the option to promote that character to "Galaxy at War." This
does two things.
First, on the multiplayer side, this will reset the class to level 1, and you will no longer have that level 20 to play with. This is the entire class, all four charactors, assumeing you have them unlocked.
You will also increase your N7 level by 10. Your N7 level is all of the levels that you've gained in multiplayer put together.
This is what is used for the leader boards. It is seen by yourself and other players in the lobby. It'll say N7 [N7 level] [class Level] [class] [Race]
Second, in every single player game from now on, you will start with another war asset. This asset is found under Alliance section, named "N7 Special Ops Team". For each character you promote, this asset's value is increased by 75 points.
To put this in perspective, recruiting characters from past games gives you 25 points each, with the exception of Wrex, who is worth 30. This means that if you promote two characters, they will be worth as much as the entire 103rd Marine Division.
You'll need 5000 points or more to get the so called "Good" ending. In addition the effective value of your military forces is multiplied by your readiness value. So, if you feel like promoting 134 characters, they will give you the 5000 points you need for the "good" ending, even if your readiness is only 50%. But just playing single player, you'll be tripping over points left and right.
Recap:
Level multiplayer to 20. Promote entire class to reset them to level 1. Gain 75 war assets in all single player games.
