First of all, women play Mass Effect too. Second, you deserve a rainbow colored spear in your eye.

Vega seems like your typical soldier.

Soldiers can be really skinny or really large. As long as they're buff (i.e. they look like they've been carrying twice their weight worth of equipment. Have you seen a real life soldier's rucsack?) then I don't have an issue with size.

Besides that wideness is due to muscle not fat. He is physically fit in the same way Ashley (who is skinny) is physically fit. He's just been doing a bit of weight lifting so that he can have a mean right hook and win arm wrestling competitions between soldiers.

James Vega: Hey Shepard. Wanna fight?
Female Shepard: I beg your pardon.
James Vega: You know. Boxing. I heard you used to do that a lot during your time back on the colonies.
Female Shepard: I had a broken nose and a few cracked ribs from my days of boxing.

Female Shepard: Alright (sigh) show me what you've got. Oh this doesn't count as a date by the way.

to be honest makeing fun of him is fun and all. but all ive seen of the character from the demo.

they said he is suppose to connect with new players to ME, and they set him up really well in that one exchange with kaiden (for idoits other people, ashley) where he said, "you know shepard?" and kaidens all like "i used to".

to me, that was set up really well for me, so i like whats being done with his character from what ive seen in the demo.

Yeah true James is more muscular than I am, but that never bothered me. Weight training is boring. Worst form of grinding ever!

I like James Vega. Nice to have a new character. He seems like a guy who loves his banter. I want more banter in Mass Effect 3. Banter is how you deal with stressful situations especially when the entire galaxy is being attacked. Without banter, you'd just explode!!!

Oh and he explains things to newcomers and also to people who might have forgotten what happened in Mass Effect 1 and or 2.

I'd rather have Wrex or Grunt in my squad, but I'm sure Vega will play some significance in Mass Effect 3. Otherwise he seems to be just another soldier in my squad.

As someone who works with members of the US military, I don't think Vega looks huge. Some real life US Marines are as buff as him.

Keep in mind he's this games Wrex/Grunt. You dont get a Korgan as a permenant squadmate so they had to give you someone else to fill that Tank role, thus the MMA fanboy. Give him a chance 

I'd have prefered this game's Wrex/Grunt to be Wrex/Grunt.

Honestly, he looks . . . weird. I've seen bulky guys that look alright, but he's not among them. It doesn't help that I live in a military town, and literally none of the Military guys around here look like that. Muscled and toned, definitely, but nothing like that brand of blatant mass. I actually had one guy here, that was aiming for some pretty hefty military career goals, at a bar, talk about functional muscle versus gym/steroid muscle.

Maybe because he's muscular.

Damn I need to go back to the gym if that's the case.

Some guy above described the gym as "heavy risk but the priiiize". So perhaps I should take Jacob's advice.

I don't hate him overall, I don't know him yet. I do hate the way he looks and impression it gives.

I would be very surprised if he is an intellectual or even as smart as a rodent but only when get the game will know that. He comes across as Jacob without the intellect of which I felt Jacob lacked in first place.

Still I will give him a try see if my assumption is close enough.
