I guess the closest analogue would be the SPARTAN program from Halo.

Yup, N7. The N designates special forces, and the 7 indicates what class, with 7 being the highest. N7's are the elite of the elite.

Spartans would totally kick N7 ass though.

... No. There are no biotic Spartans.
Aside from the Spartan's power armor, N7's are basically mirror images of the Spartans.

Shepard died by flying into space, Master Chief flied into space just to land on Earth nad did so without a scratch. There's no debate on who's the biggest badass is. Also Shepard needed a team of the galaxies finest to destroy the Collector base, alongside a fully upgraded ship, Master Chief landed on a ship with the same size with a bomb, by himself.

I don't know what part of "aside from the power armor" you didn't get the first time. Spartan's power armor beats Shepard's standard N7 armor.
If Shepard were to fight Chief 1v1, Shepard would definitely win. Any class that isn't a Soldier gets a free pass. Engineers and Infiltrators can just burn chief to a crisp or short out his shields, and Adepts and Sentinels can just tear his armor to pieces with Warp. Hell, Stasis and then Warp for a biotic explosion. Vanguards can shock wave, then Charge + Nova.
Chief didn't land on that ship, if you're referring to the opener for Halo 2. He was flying out towards it, and kicked it towards the ship after arming the bomb. He never landed inside the ship at all.

Shepard actually is a super soldier (N7's in general are super soldiers), just not on the insane level of Chief. Both are tough, hardcore badasses who've been genetically enhanced to boost their physical capabilities, and both wear specialized armor. Granted, Chief's armor is much better than Shepard's, since Chief can house Cortana.
Chief's weight has little to do with how biotics would affect it, since Shepard would be directly manipulating the mass of the Chief. Especially for all of the powers that don't actually do anything to his size or move Chief. Stasis, Singularity, Warp, and all those skew the fight FAR into Shepard's favor.

Shepard would use the aforementioned biotics and destroy the warthog.
Or use Incinerate and ignite the fuel.

Asari-Asari Commandos
Salarins- STG
Krogan- Just Krogan
Turinans- IDK, supect Specters but they are solo artists
and in universe match-ups i would not go ME vs, Halo, too differant, and Chief is a solo artist
i would rather do a Gears vs ME, or Star Wars Republic Commandos vs. ME
those would be match ups

Why this particular match-up?
Gears is pretty "modern-day" in terms of weaponry (with the exception of the Hammer of Dawn). There isn't any interplanetary space travel, and most of the weapons in that universe fire bullets from the conventional magazine-fed style.
Mass Effect would blow Gears off the face of the planet. Gears' technology is simply inferior. Like the Cylons from BSG fighting a war against the ancient Romans.

To my understanding, they're handpicked by admiralty fresh out of boot camp or a deployment and sent to Arcturus for a year's worth of grueling training.

You know i never got why in ME1 Shep got such crappy equipment, don't special forces get top of the line stuff, i know the Navy SEALs do. And don't say anything about the spectre stuff he had to buy his own guns and armor for christ sake.
He was a Spectre for 95% of the game. Spectre's have to buy their own equipment.

yeah thats irrelevant cuz i feel Shepard should have started with really good armor and guns. You would think the alliance would put more effort in keeping their elite of the elite operatives safe.AgitatedLemon wrote...
