Turian Sentinel. Never would I have expected it to fit my play style so well. You can hang back with the Carnifex (sp?) and pick of people so easily with all the buffs he has got for accuracy, or you can pull in close with so much shielding and draw away the heat. I feel like he plays like an actual Spectre might. He is a good supplement, but when the mission requires it, he can pull through nearly any situation.
In other words, Batman.

Human Vanguard; didn't expect the invulnerability frames to make her nearly unkillable.

best class engineer(preference for quarian) and then krogan soldier(tough to put down) and asari (the stasis bubble really helps in close range combat, especially on silver and gold challenges) and finally the sentinels, the usually have the highest scores

Vanguard - I never played Vanguard in ME or ME2... and in ME3 I was all about... first Infiltrator then Engineer and then maybe Adept etc.
then I saw a Vanguard in Multiplayer... and it looked like fun... so I started a Vanguard myself...
it was Super special awesome... and now I definitely play a Vanguard in Story...

Asari Adept surprised me quite a bit. Was my first class unlock, and from the Starter Pack at that (would be my only non-human class unlock for nearly a week though). Knowing Stasis was practically useless in previous Mass Effect 1 and 2 I didn't think Asari would be any good. Then I found out enemies in Stasis took damage, and its been overpowered Stasis Spam and Headshots since.
Infiltrator surprised me the most however. Having never played one in ME2, I didn't realize how great Tactical Clock was. It may not be as effective as Charge-Nova-Spam Vanguards, but CQB Shotgun Infiltrator is more fun to play in my opinion.
