I just downloaded the PC demo to compare how it looked to the Xbox demo.  I was blown away that in 2012 they still make games that don't support the 360 controller on pc.

I downloaded the 360 demo last week and played it, and it was fun, but the graphics are so ugly compared to PC.  I'm not playing it that way, with FUG graphics.

Since the storyline of the demo was nonsensical - yes let's leave Earth while Shep goes on a month long planet-hopping holiday... great way to save Earth btw - and the gameplay looks to be a retread of ME2's mission format, I don't feel too bad about just not playing this game period.

So I had the collector's edition PC version pre-ordered on amazon.  Anyone who wants it, let me know.

Although the intro looked suspiciously rushed together the rest of that doesn't make sense to me. Earth is screwed, as we all knew it would be. It's been pretty obvious for a long time that the game would involve getting the entire galaxy to help sort out the Reapers. Perhaps the finale will be to charge in to liberate the Earth. It's far too early to tell how the missions will hook together; a demo isn't really going to be able to show that. You may well be right (alas), but again we'll have to wait and see to know for sure.

I think some people are pulling the trigger too fast on this one.

1. He left Earth to gather allies. There is no way they could defeat the Reapers alone. If you noticed they took down an entire dreadnaught in one shot.
2. Its just a demo, so its possible it did not have the controller support, because it is a demo.
3. Why would you use a controller on PC? PC´s have no aim assist, which seems kind of vital when you play shooter game with a controller.
4. I believe they have cut down the graphics because of Xbox live marketplace restrictions. (I heard a buscuit say it on youtube).
5. What do you mean by retreated ME2 mission format? These serious are most importantly about the character driven storyline. That is why most of us here play it. I have actually re-played a bit of mass effect 2 lately and realized how much the combat has improved. Everything in ME3 seems much easier to me and more dynamic (for example rolls, switching cover and sprinting is easier to control because they improved on the camera)
6. Why would you buy collectors edition if you dont love the series? The core of it really is story and the lore. I dont know how about you, but I play it for the story and not the actual gameplay. This is the first time I am actually excited about the gameplay as well and the multiplayer is a lot of fun if you have some buddies to play with.

Thats just my 2 cents though :/

ME2 is one of my favorite games ever.

I played it on a laptop, using mouse and keyboard, and it was ok.  However, I want to play this time around using a 360 controller.  It's 2012, 360 controller support should be a GIVEN.  I want to play this on my giant TV, hooked up to my computer, with a controller.

Why is this so hard for so many PC users to understand?

Keyboard mapping programs do not work btw.  It's not the same.

Very disappointed in BioWare.  They have the resources to implement it, but they are lazy and/or spread too thin with working on way too many games at once.

Btw, last 3 games i played for PC:

The Witcher 2
Skyrim
Deus Ex Human Revolution

All three of those games supported the 360 controller, and they were super fun playing it that way!

So by your logic i should be pissed i cant play 360 with my keyboard and mouse as Microsoft clearly has the resources to make it possible?

If BioWare implemented keyboard and mouse on the 360 then yes, you could play it that way. That would be BioWare's decision, not Microsoft.

Haven't played the demo myself (and don't intend to) but if this is true.... yay! :wizard:

Never liked the ME2 mission format, much preferred the more traditional RPG style in ME1.

aemami99 the demo isn't meant to convey a coherent story, it's meant to give us a taste of the gameplay. I was disappointed in the demo too because of this but at least it showed me I could run the game, and gave me an idea of how the multiplayer worked. Mass Effect is a story-driven game, you aren't going to get the right experience from a demo like this, and you'd probably regret passing on the CE. Would've been a lot better if they just gave us the first 45 - 60 minutes of the game, so we could kind of get immersed in it, but it is what it is.

I don't get the lack of gamepad support on PC either.  It's in the code, there have been hacks for the PC versions of ME1 and ME2 that have allowed the use of the gamepad.  All they need to do is make it accessible, I can't see it being that hard.

Do'h! :pinched:

Shows what happens when you try to read and post when too tired. Somehow I read that as "looks to be rid of...."

Man, I was hoping a return to ME1 style missions without the flow-disrupting "mission" screen at the end of every mission. :?

When I said do you want it, its sort of implied I'm not saying for free :P

Part of me is holding out hope that instead of Day 1 DLC, we'd get Day 1 controller support. Kind of tells me where there priorities lie

This is the real reason there is no controller support:

http://www.eurogamer...upport-gamepads

Read between the lines. Their resources are stretched too thin making day one DLC to actually implement Xbox controller support.

Instead of selling your game, how about you do a google search into how to use an xbox controller on pc? You can map the buttons to actual pc buttons, this includes the sensors, for full xbox controller control. I am doing it with my PS3 controller for COD on PC, while COD has no support whatsoever for PS3 controller. The set of programs I used to make this happen were designed for xbox and PS3. Try typing in google: Xbox controller on pc.

It requires more than just mapping the buttons. Things like:

When you press the RB or LB buttons on the controller, it should bring up a radial menu. That's not going to happen by simply remapping buttons. The PC version needs to actually support radial menus the same way it is implemented on the 360.
