Armies don't mean as much in space war fair as a powerful space fleet. Especially when to get anywhere, outside of your local area of space, you have to pass through the choke points of mass relays.

Yeah it doesnt make sense, which is why I never do it. Its like if some tragedy wiped out the UN council and America is like "lolz yea we run the UN now. China, give us free stuff".

Yeah, I don't understand how we could take over either, for three bigger goverments that have been around longer, and keep that power. Especially when nobody likes humanity.

Humanity feels more mary-sueish than Asari.

I've always assumed it was to do with the facts that 1) The Destiny Ascension was the Council's strongest ship and that gets destroyed along with their defacto leaders and 2) Out of the all three council races only the Turians possess a fleet capable of standing up to the Alliance as it says in the codex that both the Asari and the Salarians rely on the Turians as the Council's peacekeepers.

The Asari and Salarians combined have 37 Dreadnoughts, the same as the Turians.  Humans have 6.

edit: at the time of ME1 that is, things have changed a smidge in ME2.
