Yes, you are the only one. Since when did 'hotfixes' have such a specific meaning? They've always been considered minor changes that affect a specific issue released outside the patch schedule.
I think you're getting mixed up with workarounds.
Wait, I need a hotfix for a hotfix now?

Like I said, I don't recall the term 'hotfix' ever having such a specific meaning. It's like saying an Exception can only ever be something that occurs when a null value tries to be processed. Terms change with time, build a bridge and get over it. Trying to argue about the meaning of the term 'hot' in computing context is pedantry in the extreme, and more importantly, doesn't help the people on the thread.

"Hot" means while it's running/powered/etc, it's not that hard to understand. And I'd prefer not to have "hotfix" and "fix" mean the same thing. It's a different term because it means something different.JaegerBane wrote...

I hate to break this to you but I know since i started playing games back in 1999 with EQ the term hotfix has meant a fast fix that the Devs have rushed out ( hence the term hot) . Verant/SOE used the term that way SOE uses it that way Blizzard uses it that way and in every game I have played it has been used that way. Thus even if you are correct as to the orignal use of the term the Definition of it has changed from common usuage to also mean a fast fix usually for one specific issue

Of course if there isn't a fix for this, I'll just remove the files from my next playthrough and solve it then, but so far for this playthrough, Shale is lacking as a combatant.

So for those of us who picked up shale about 15 hours of play time ago, will there be a hotfix for Shale or another way to fix her without replaying those 15 hours? I had no idea a complication like this would occur. I just wanted my dex based characters to work as intended.

there is a way to correct shale without having to start anew. if your issues with shale are do to the use of the dagger/dex bugfix. RPG1 install instructions for the fix work. If you were using the fix in the old postion when you got shale then you need to
"...What you need then is to remove armor while still having hotfix in wrong place and save (so you would have armor class of 4 with no crystals). Then after putting hotfix in proper location and loading you'll keep 4 armor without crystals (which is proper value), and putting new crystals will increase armor as it should..."
the above method was messaged to me from RPG1 and it corrected shale that i had gotten earlier and still provides me with the dex bug fix the install positions are the ones rpg1 posted earlier in this thread

For me a Hotfix was alway a rushed patch focused on specific problems, often correcting some issues an actual patch/expansion implemented.

There is an workaround! Use old package core override and remove armor. It will stay at 4 (due to bug). Then make a new save game, exit and put hotfix in single player single player override. Now base armor is 4 (due to save value). Get some armor, and it will increase properly. Hope it helps.
Thanks for your workaround. However I'm still having problem with attack crystals...
The values show up as it should be, but with or without the hotfix, when I unequip/re-equip it the stat changes as if those white values (damage/armor penetration etc) does not exist...
Anyone has a fix for that?
There is no known fix for Shale's weapon damage/crit/ap so far.
One more thing, I am sure that both override path solutions are still bugged.
Shale can't get item set bonus with hotfix no matter which version you use or where the gda file is placed.
As long as the .gda file is created by current tooset, the problem is still there.
WITHOUT hotfix, You can get item set bonus to extra resistance.
Shale cannot be revert once ItemStats.gda is applied, not until we got new official patch, and sadly I doubt 1.02 can fix this.

I tested outside the camp, in town, explorable area and even during battles.
Weird enough, sometimes I did get the set bonus(+10 resistance) with dev dex hotfix, but not always works.
But we know the basic weapon attributes(dmg/crit/ap) aren't fixed this way.
Although it's not a fatal problem, shale's weapons don't apply much base damage. The advantage of damage type conversion and the percentage bonus are still there.
But this problem still made me upset so I use other companion instead.

Changing the dev hotfix location as rpg1 instructed working fine for me. Item set bonus also work.
But for basic weapon attributes (dmg/crit/ap), no fix. I disabled any mods and DLCs except stone prisoner, and replay to get Shale, doesn't work. I reinstalled and redid it, doesn't work. Anyone know any workaround or what cause this, please tell me.

Yeah, so the part in this very thread where Georg says that this unofficial hotfix that needs to go through Q/A to be added to a patch is just smoke, eh? I'd explain further, but reading comprehension seems to be optional, or selective at best.geisljapoa wrote...
After using the hotfix on Georg's page, I get a weird reading for lieliana's defense. Post hotfix is says something like 69 + NaN with the "NaN" part being in red.
Sheesh, I love Bioware games, but they are lousy at QA and polish. Simply terrible at it. And its a longstanding company problem. Makes me wonder how the KOTOR MMO will do, especially with PvP. Heh.
Great game tho, bugs notwithstanding.

Wait,
You mean even without hotfix (or any itemstat.gda file created by toolset), Shale's crystal weapons are bugged themself?
So if someone start a new game without any override, Shale's crystal weapons are still broken?
If that's true then it's possible easier to fixed by next patch since it has nothing to do with the gda file.

these files will load on top of the base files instead of overwriting and will only change the rows in question. this is probably what georg should have done when releasing the hotfix, since you can see all the rows relating to shale equipment is 0 accoss the board
worked fine for me

guys, you can fix this yourselves if you edit the itemstats.gda from the hotfix and take out all rows except for weapon - dagger, shortbow, longbow, and crossbow. then rename the file to itemstats_hotfix.gda or something. do the same with itemstatsdefines.gda, removing all rows except attack and renaming to itemstatsdefines_hotfix.gda

You mean you can fix Shale's weapon attribute? really?
So you have 4 gda files in override folder?
Can I simply remove the rows from text editor such as ultraditor?
Sorry about so many questions.
I am sure a lot of people will appreciate if you can share the files.
