It does. It helps you to get best ending.

That's not contributing the main game.  That's making it worse, by screwing up the balance.

You can still get the best ending without doing multiplayer.

Multiplayer just adds another way to get the best ending.

That is in no way screwing up any sort of balance.

Oddly enough, while I don't tend to like the practices of how such games make their money, there are actually free games released. Just a note, not really a point toward one side or the other.

They could have made the entire game free too, but thats not how things work in the real world.

Well, the real world worked fine without significant payed for day 1 DLC for a long time.

Yup. Maybe we should just go back to the old days. You know, bring down the production costs on all our AAA titles so they come out later and aren't as well-funded. Or maybe we should actually accommodate for the change in currency value, since the original prices for games would be above $70 today if we stuck to that ratio. Maybe we should shrink the videogames consumer base down to what it used to be, too, so that there's less demand and thus less motivation for companies to invest in games. Oh! And since the internet is to blame for this DLC since it wasn't around as an option before, maybe we should get rid of the new global broadband connection altogether, since that's what gives us all this DLC (and patches, and communities, and smaller game projects...).

Man, games have just gone downhill with no upside whatsoever to changes over the years, amirite?

It is, it's easier to get the best ending and more war-assets. Plus it's actualy fun. Try it out.

We're talking past each other, I think.  You seem to be talking about contributing to victory, I'm talking about contributing to making the SP better.  With more content and things like that.

And I've tried it, and yes it's fun.  But I'd still rather have SP content.

@Tazzmission
I haven't played the full game, but it's blatantly obvious that a mechanic will be more tightly balanced if it doesn't have to deal with major variables.  Either the game will be too easy to win for someone who's done loads of MP, or it will be too difficult for someone who hasn't.

And I'm not a troll, thank you very much.

No one can win in the games industry.

No one.

IF you call paying money for features you don't want or use (MP and Origin) that could be construed as losing.

Given that EA seems to have over a million pre-orders, not including any DLC yet, I'd have a difficult time thinking that's not a 'win.' Unless the money bags leak as they run to the bank.

Since instead of getting "From Ashes" as our "Project $10", we get the multiplayer pass.

If thats how it worked, I'd say I'm fine with that, since multiplayer is awesome.

If From Ashes were free and multiplayer cost money, everyone would be whining about that.

Bioware cant win

How is it that Bioware can't win? They already have. They are going to make millions. I'd say they've won.

Way to completely alter my point for the sake of complaint. Good show.

Omg! You're forgetting  'and throw stuff', that's so important! That's like half the game there.

Which part?

I think the statement in the OP is unambiguously true, so I don't see why you'd disagree with it.  You might quite reasonably think that it's a good thing, and that multiplayer is a more worthwhile use of resources, though.

I'm just saying it does contribute to the main game.

But yeah, you would have propably liked more missions for singleplayer. I understand.

I don't think Bioware gives a **** about the whining, though. They are gonna get a huge payday which is all that really matters.

I bought the CE and I already have a Gold membership. The OP doesn't apply to me whatsoever. As for your thread title; I again disagree since achievements in MP contribute to the SP game. As per a good use resources, I think it was worthwile.

Bioware have been at pains to stress that MP does not effect SP other than contributing to the galactic readiness score.
