So I've been thinking that since there is already an in-depth face custumization option to create your own Shepard, why can't there be one for the male/female humans? You would have the option to choose helmets or just go helmetless and other species (bar Quarians for obvious reasons) all don't use helmets.

I think it would be really cool, sure we could have a whole bunch of Shepard faces running around but then again Shepard is whoever you want him/her to be or have him/her look like so I really see no reason why not. I'm not sure if they can implement it but there can at least be a thread about it to show support (if one hasn't been made already) and there really are no downsides to it. So what do you say Bioware!

If that's the case, then I would create the most unpleasant-looking face and frighten people by staring at them

It would up loading times and might affect performance, not to mention aliens would feel left out. I'd like it to be an option, but it shouldn't for the reasons above.

I'm thinking maybe not full customization, but just a few face presets would go a long way in terms of variety.

It would be nice, but I don't know what the technical difficulties would be. Doesn't seem like sharing a face code would cause all that many problems, but what do I know.

(Ideally, give us face customisation for the Asari too)

And risk the overall game performance plummeting? No. Thanks.

Customization? I don't know. If it would affect performance, I'd probably be against it. I could go for different facial presets though.

No, they shouldn't. But all should get armor selectors. Being stuck with said helmet or armor type on a class you dislike is kind of silly. And we all know each Race has multiple armor types. I feel like that should just be part of the overall selection when it comes to to that. I'd also like it if male/female was in that selection instead of being partitioned out like it is.

But I don't think we'll ever get that kind of option now as it would require GUI shifts. But how its setup now is kind of... sad. I was hoping for actual armor customization (even if its just a full set selector). It's something I miss from Rainbow 6 vegas 1/2 that I would expect in an RPG-ish game like Mass Effect.

Big Believer all of the alien/human should have that control as first option above Primary/Highlight. That or after Lights or something. As it stands 'skin color' isn't really a skin color picker. It tints the damn texture. I can't make a blue Krogan or a Green Krogan as exists. They're all RED Krogan with varying degrees of looking sickly or more orange.

Same goes for Salarian, Turian you can barely see a change at all. Oddly no face paint either on Turians. I'm mildly baffled by the lack of getting to pick that kind of stuff as it wouldn't impact loading anymore then having predefined models they have now. Meh, oh well.

The game already has built in support for face customization for humans, why not make use of it? If performance is an issue for some users, give us a few simple options:

[ ] Use helmet for this character (always enabled for Quarians unfortunately!)
[ ] Always use helmets for teammates (overrides face customization on your end even if they have enabled it)
^ Enabling both options will give the same performance as the no customization setup

Customization for aliens would be welcome too, but understandably that's a lot of extra work. I'd love it, even something simple like skin tone and face paint, but probably better things for devs to spend their time.

It's unfortunate we can't customize armor pieces like ME2 shepherd, but that's a different gripe entirely.

Also if performance is an issue, then I don't think it would be difficult to set up an option on your end to load all other players with a helmet so even though they can see their own faces, you cant and get a performance boost.

I'm In favor of face customization. Drell and Asari could would only need minor modifications of the human face creation for SP as they have very similar facial features. Just switch out the hair options for head crest options. Whilst the salarian, turian, and krogan would need a more simplified new face system as differences between two of those species isn't vast. Probably skin/plate tones, face paints, and scars maybe?. Quarians wouldn't have much of anything in the way of customization.

Though I honestly don't see this happening as it'll take so much work for very subtle changes, it's not really worth it when they could spend the time making awesome dlc instead. But I'd still be a neat feature.

I definitely feel like armor customization should be in, even in full set form. We all know there is more than one variety of Krogan, Turian, etc. armors, it would be nice to choose from a few presets, and toggle helmet. Variety is always, always welcome.

Why should performance be an issue? A face doesn't take more resources to render than a helmet. And we know since Mass Effect 1 that the "face code" for humans is a string of ~20 characters, meaning it has absolutely no effect on the bandwidth as well (apart from the fact that this kind of information would only have to be transmitted once, anyways).

That being said, I'd love it if facial customization should exist for *all* characters, human and alien. Granted, some of the species do not have a lot to customize, but there are nuances (even aside from the obvious skin colour) everywhere that could go a long way to reinforce the bond between player and character: Facial markings for Asari, some sort of warpaint for Krogans, a selection of holosights for Turians, crest shape for Salarians, ... hmm, for Quarians, all I could think of would be a choice of delicate patterns for their clothing. Just as an idea!

Well the game would have to "figure out" the face for each player if they're all customizable rather then saying for example: this character is an asari, load asari head, it would have to do more work required to put the face together properly.

Because the helmet doesn't have geometry sliders - though I think the biggest hurdle is useability and how fast people handle it. I do not, under any circumstance, want to wait on some jackass who doesn't have his eyeballs just right. I get there choice for humans having helmets. I don't get the choice of limiting armor selections.

With the way its setup, they would have to only allow you to make a human character outside of a game. You wouldn't be able to quickly whip up a char and skills and just 'go with it' like you can right now. So, memory aside, no face customization makes sense from a MP perspective.

No Armor selector doesn't - for some reason they felt forced armor combinations on a per-class basis was the way to go. I don't know why but that's how it is, sadly. Unless of course that was just a demo thing and we get better customization options in the full game. That would be nice.

Apparently there already are facial markings for Asari under the 'Pattern' option. I'm not sure how common visors are for Turians given that we've only seen one in the whole series who wears one. The more obvious modifier would be colony markings (the Turian face paint). I'm not sure if that's already an option as well, luck has not been on my side when it comes to unlocking the Turian appearance options.
