Well the game would have to "figure out" the face for each player if they're all customizable rather then saying for example: this character is an asari, load asari head, it would have to do more work required to put the face together properly.

That's not how ME works. Given the way the "face code" is structured, it's a simple matter of loading a predefined standard "head object", then morphing it according to the sliders whose position was transmitted as part of the string, then applying the hairstyle model and the colours also defined in that 20-character-code. All of this is done as part of the loading sequence, and once it's in the client's cache it does not have to be rendered again.

You would not register any change in loading times or performance would this be implemented - and other multiplayer games are allowing this kind of customization (and much more!) without a problem also.

I do not, under any circumstance, want to wait on some jackass who doesn't have his eyeballs just right. I get there choice for humans having helmets. I don't get the choice of limiting armor selections. With the way its setup, they would have to only allow you to make a human character outside of a game.

Understandable. People can already spend way too much time simply doing armour customization within the lobby. I'd agree that all of this should take place outside it.

It would up loading times and might affect performance, not to mention aliens would feel left out. I'd like it to be an option, but it shouldn't for the reasons above.

There's always one guy that makes this argument, no matter what  is being discussed. Seriously, this game loads dozens of unique faces without any major load times in the singleplayer.

Like I said in a thread a few days ago, the more casual players are going to drift away from human characters because they don't want to run around looking like Power Rangers. I'd be fine with 3 or 4 preset male/female faces. No, that's not a technical constraint at all in this day and age... games have been doing it for YEARS online.

Do Krogan even have face paint? I mean other then the blood of things they've headbutted to death?

I'm actually curious, I've never seen a Krogan with facepaint, or blood in ME1 or 2. But my memory could just be faulty?

They do all come in different colors though. Some Krogan are blue, some are green, some have a reddish fringe. A lot of yellow eyes, Wrex has Red, apparently blue is also available (as per-grunts eyes).

Or did you think the coloring of there skin marking/headplates was facepaint? Cause that's all natural =P

Performance wouldn't be an issue, remember the face codes. I just put one in notepad and it turned out to be 47 bytes. That's .05 kilobytes.

However I don't really care about customizable faces, but different helmets might be neat.

i think all classes should get customization options. Not just the humans. For instance the Asari or the Quarians don't get much in suit customization options. But humans get color, pattern, lights and so on for customization. Really not fair.

It is fair, considering the alien classes pretty much outdo every human class, with the exception of vanguard...but even that will probably change once asari vanguards become available. At least the humans can look better than everyone else.

Remember everything we have seen is only balanced against ONE enemy type, when there will probably be 3 or 4 that will have different optimal specs.

Also, human engineer is better (against cerberus).

Point taken.

No. We already lost the holstering (a big immersion factor for a STRONG majority of the fanbase) due to "lack of space."

This game doesn't need MP taking anything else away from the SP.

Singleplayer is already completed how would this affect it at all?

Even though I did occasionally holster my weapon during missions, I think you would need evidence to prove that it's  a "STRONG majority" instead of a "vocal minority"

Very True. The weapon holstering thing has gotten blown WAY out of proportion by the (very) vocal minority on these boards who love to **** about EVERYTHING.

As for facial customization, I'm not really interested. I would love to have armor customization though, at the very least helmet swapping. Love how the Death Mask looks on my Vanguard, would rather not have it on my Soldier though.

Looks really stupid when you face your squad and they start playing whack-a-mole because you can't put your weapon away.

Except that I only ever had my weapon holstered whilst I was in a hub area in ME2 anyway.

Why would you want to run around in a combat section of the game with your weapon on your hip instead of drawn?

Unless I am mistaken, I don't think you could even draw your weapon in a hub in ME2.

Because not everything is hostile and it looks idiotic to be pointing your gun in the face of someone friendly to you.

Except that if you do point your gun at something non-hostile, Shep points it up, not at the face of said non-hostile.

I cannot fathom why this is an issue to somebody.
