This could turn into a very nice philosophical debate on the nature of our 'soul' and how we define masculinity and such.
Except that it's been covered thoroughly by a couple generations of queer theorists. The best laypeople like me (and probably you) could do would be to formulate poor restatements of ideas that were fully fleshed out three decades ago.

I found Shale to be worthless (aside from amusing dialogue). Armor class of 4 and dead in seconds.
I've used Shale to tank all of a Nightmare playthrough (getting her immediately after Lothering). If your Armor is 4, you might not be in tank mode.
Shale seemed to work best by cranking the Dex as high as possible (starts with adequate Str and Con).

That's how I used Shale. It got to be a bit boring after awhile cause the rest of my party was superfluous for any non-elite fight. People complain about mages being overpowered should really look at how Shale functions.
She's a tank (if you don't do the Dex hotfix, I stupidly did and Shale is rather weak in my version of the game), who has AoE attacks/stuns that only mages have. So despite her crappy defense due to the hotfix, I still pwned face with her.

Huh, didn't know the dex hotfix affected defense.

Does any of that enlighten thoughs who don't frequent books relating to such topics? If no one talks about it then nothing fresh would ever come to the table and through debate you truely experience it. Also, you say 'fully fleshed' out as though the whole thing has been said and with nothing more to add. Far from it ^^b

Correct, except I'm at a loss to add anything other than:
Shale is female because she was born that way.
Shale is female because she acts that way.
Shale is female because she (eventually) sees herself that way.
I think I covered all the bases. No?

I'm actualy shocked no one sees the irony of it calling the main character an 'It'. Or that it resembles the stereotype of an camp eccentric homosexual. Anyone who has seen 'With nail and eye' I hope would agree with me lol

I have read that DEX makes Shale a uber tank, but Shale needs STR and CON for crystals I have got so far.
Thanks

Also, he should get to use a weapon. His crystal studded fists are lame.
