I can't say if it will be boring. ME2's mineral scanning mechanic didn't get boring after a few planets. What made it boring was how many times you had to scan.

One tiny thing, though - it's probably not intended by devs that I think the little reapers look kind of cute. D'awwwww, who's a little diddy baby reaper, then? Who's going to eat all advanced civilisations? You are, yes you are! *chucks baby reaper under tentacle thing, gets face eaten off*

I don't how anyone liked exploring planets back in ME1, going back through the game again I find its very annoying and the environments are very dull.

The only cool parts are finding Prothean Artifacts and the American flag on the moon.

ME3 scanning how ever looks great, its to the point and I can focus more on the story than having to drive the Mako for an hour on a planet to get a turian piece of metal and some resources for people I never even meet.

Better, as in looks less time-consuming, and involves a bit more than just gathering minerals and looking for missions, though I admit I didn't mind planet scanning at any rate.

The idea of the Mako/planets in ME1 was a solid idea, but it grew long in the tooth way before the end of the game. It's one of the 2 reasons I can't really play ME1 anymore as after countless playthroughs the idea of having to slog through some of those awful planets for a completionist import makes me twitch.

Could they have simply improved upon it instead of removing it? Probably, but it also would seem very odd that in ME3 in the middle of this urgent war we're going joy riding around on planets instead of riding a dropship down to the hotspot, solving the mission and using the Normandy to scan for resources.

The execution could always be improved, but I think they went in the right direction, even if having SOME open world roaming with a vehicle for key points would have been fun. Example: I'm not quite sure about the rail gun sequences and that would have been more fun with a fully controllable vehicle like when you're evading the Reaper.

I think it looks far better than ME2 actually.

The scanning looks much better. The system was fine in ME2 apart from the tedious mineral gathering which has been removed. All that's left is treasure hunting and side questing, which are the most fun parts of the game for me.

Ditto!

I was dancing when they said no more mineral searching. Sure Reapers chase you, but only in systems they control.

A wise improvement of the scanning system.

Now you don't have to check every single planet for goods of missions. Just scan a few times the system and you'll have what you need.

Huh, I never knew the PC was also the pilot, navigator, science officer and communications officer? Yet he seems to do it all. (you're only supposed to play and control Shepard, after all)

You actually get cool stuff now, instead of just minerals.

That's not a good thing.  I don't want to have to scan to get cool stuff.

But Shepard is the captain. He orders all those people responsible.

Exactly, and he should be confident that they will carry out his orders without a second thought

From what I can see there, scanning in ME3 takes less time, produces more varied rewards, and involves a risk/reward dynamic to make it less mindless. It looks better than ME2, and even if you're the biggest opponent of minigames in the world, I still don't see how you could come to any other conclusion.

I controlled and saved Jokers life, I can control him when I pilot the ship. Also I do not think this was ever suppose to be taken this literal.

I'd prefer it if there wasn't any fuel, and if you had a cursor instead of the Normandy toy.
