Looks far more better & interesting than ME2 planet scanning, that's for sure. Also the reapers chasing you was pretty funny.
Agreed... makes me wonder how long before someone posts a video of them having their Normandy chased around a system by the Reapers to the theme of Yakkity Sax?
I think I gonna try it on my 'Worse Playthrough' seeing as it'll probably be the closest I get to doing any 'scanning' on that one.
Actually I wonder if any of the QA people have tested it to see longest can last before getting caught?

Overlord is what I would want to see with exploration though.
Although I would have liked the idea of getting out of the vehicle, I would have been pretty content with that.

No, it was a carefully thought out inference based off the rapid decline in the ammount of CEs. Hardly a "snap" decision.Wulfram wrote...

They were selling out at many retailers and I wanted the DLC guns.
I'm not saying it was the wrong decision, for you at least.. Just one made on incomplete information.

why can't just click on the planet and have it scan? Why they felt the need to have as manual rotate and scan is beyond me. It shows they are not listening to overwhelming player feedback. Devs talk about a skipping combat button, how about a skipping resource gathering button?
Because it's meant to artificially extend game time. That's the only purpose of:
-driving the mako around on endless copy/paste planets.
-scanning in ME2
Bioware does not want to get rid of the time sinks. Now it looks like we get two for the price of one in ME3. And lord I laughed when the alarm went off and....YIKES! HERE COME THE REAPERS SCOOBY!!

This is unfair and I don't even really like the new system. He said you don't know things like how much is involved is etc. Quote him if you have a problem with what he said so at least we know what you are talking about.MadLaughter wrote...

They had to do 2 things to make it actually decent:
-Improve those crazy physics. Hammerhead is a nice alternative.
-Add content to the planets surface. Alien trees, caves, lakes, seas, lush environments, wild life, resources guarded by powerful natural hunters and monsters, actual RUINS of civilization!
There's so much potential I don't even know where to stop. You can make the galaxy feel alive.
Right now it's just a quiet empty thing with some stuff here and there. Make the galaxy intereseting and we might actually care if the reapers try to destroy it.
This took me a good 6 hours and I've just started:
I wish ME could have both open and interesting environments but it just takes too much time to actually make anything like that.
Umm delay the game? Ofcourse EA calls the shots.
I was hoping we get less sidequests but with more depth to them. I thought Project Overlord would have been great use of both uncharted planet exploration and a good way to look for minerals, lost tech, weapons and hidden caches and ofcourse some sidemissions.
But no we don't get that either.

To get a good amount sidequests with that much content would take another year or two.Ringo12 wrote...

Overlord took a few months to make so unless you want about 4 sidequests then you'll have to deal with ME2 style missions.

The animation may take some getting used to. But it seems logical to me that if the Normandy was to enter a Reaper controlled territory they would be pursued by them. Adds a bit more realism, no?Giantdeathrobot wrote...
Agree with OP on the toy Normandy and Reaper chase aspects, those seem useless or tedious. But not for the rest, if we only scan for anomalies I am very fine with no. No more fuel. No more mining. Just scan, send probe, do side-quest. Very fine with me.

Ahhh... I see the problem. You seem to think that you speak for everyone when you don't speak for anyone but yourself.
Sorry you don't think you like it. Still, I would suggest you wait to actually experience it before you start hating.

You're willingly ignoring the fact that Bioware just removed planet exploration and didn't even try to improve on it.
Just that is a reason to criticize.
We did improve on planet scanning from ME2 to ME3. That was what was being discussed here. That was what I commented on. You can start criticizing the lack of superheroes, ham sandwiches and DDR elements as well if you are going to use this thread to criticize things that are also not included in planet scanning. I just thought we were discussing planet scanning.
Yes yes: "What? No superheroes, ham sandwiches, DDR elements, preorder cancelled". Nothing tired about that yet.
SCANNING PLANETS IS NOT EXPLORATION.
Sorry for the caps, but this has to be clear.

You have to expect these types of things around pre and pro-release date. Probably the biggest breaks for the devs, but the busiest times for the community managers.Dreadwing 67 wrote...

to traverse or range over (a region, area, etc.) for thepurpose of discovery
How is it not exploration?
