I'm not pleased with the direction they took with this project, so I'm waiting on reviews before I commit to buying. If DA3 captures my attention, I'll still wait for extensive reviews. Bioware as a whole is not a developer I'm too pleased with any longer. Valve, Bethesda, Obsidiain, CDPR are developers that warrant attention when they develop a new game, and have earned it.

I wouldn't consider Obsidian a trusted studio IMO. They only leech on to sequels of successful titles and their own IP such as Alpha Protocal have tanked badly.

What leeching?
Are you refereing to New Vegas?  The game that is considered by most to be better than FO3?  You know obsidion is made up of people who worked on the original Fallouts right?

Dungeon Seige 3, New Vegas, KOTOR 2, and South Park: the Game are all unorginal IPs. There is no doubt they can design fairly well but in terms of creating their own IP they faulter. Therefore I wouldn't hold them in as of high regards such as Bethesda with Elder Scrolls or Bioware with ME. Creating such big game universes takes some real talent and making it play well with the story is hard.

To be fair, only Fallout 1&2 are considered "cannon." Fallout 3 and New Vegas are both stand alone, so they did create an independent IP, and they are both equally good.

I think everyone can agree that it was not even remotely diplomatic, but I'm not sure you can blame the woman for snapping after what's gone on (including the outright lies and comments of hers that were taken way out of context).

Well, let's just hope her writing isn't as bad as her come-backs

When its one against dozens, I think they're justified to say something in their defense. You can equate all of the personal, sexist and racist things they said to her with her one comback.

Huh? Fallout 3 was rippling with references and allusions to Fallout 1+2.

No idea about New Vegas.

It shouldn't happen and it's one of the worst aspects of the internet, but responding to it doesn't help matters.  Especially the way she resonded could have been better.  It would be like the guy with the glasses making a video about how people should stop insulting him because he's popular with his videos or probably plenty of other figures that probably get verbally insulted over the internet and otherwise much more.

Can someone explain to me why she couldn't have just called the police on the people harassing her phone at home though?  It's illegal, so I certainly see why not?

*You can't equate*.  Thought I'd point this out if you want to edit your sentence.  I'll edit this out right after....unless I misunderstood something.

What fallout? People are just whining about a companion that they will probably never use, and will have no impact on the story, like Zaeed.

VGChartz numbers are made up? So thats why they pull in so much ad revenue? Christ and I've been wasting my php/HTML5/ajax/smarty/SQL skills doing legitimate work? Man I gotta get me a piece of that "making **** up" pie.

Uh you've had an "online pass" since the Cerberus Network. Every BioWare game for the last five years has had day 1 DLC.

And none of that is stopping ME3 from being a great game.

They are mole hills for the terminally unsatisfiable to make mountains of, nothing more.

My ME and ME2 are on Steam but I can't get ME3 on Steam, shall I cry about it? No, I'll just get it where I need to get it and play it, cause regardless of whatever minor gaffes have occurred that doesn't mean ME3 isn't going to be a great game.

VGchartz is accurate?!

Damn, SWTOR is doing worse than i thought

2.15 million reported retail copies. VGChartz only tracks physical media from retail outlets that report numbers to them. They do not track digital distribution. And they won't have full global distribution numbers as there are multiple global retailers that do not report any data to them. And they have none of the numbers from Origin on SWTOR.

2.15 million copies is a lot of boxes retail alone. I would estimate, in the extreme low end scenario, there is probably an additional 1 million digital distributions unaccounted for globally. So in an extremely low end estimate you're looking at 3.15 million box sales. With a potential retention rate of around 50% thats still 1.7 million subscribers/ You must be one of those people that think WoW has had 11 million subscribers since November of 2004 or something.

Anyways you can ignore the upper two paragraphs cause they don't really mean anything cause at the end of the day you'll believe whatever you want to believe and thats all good.

Ray and Greg seem pretty happy with where they are right now, pretty sure they know a lot more about the situation at BioWare than anyone slopping their angst out here on the Social Network.

It's been a bit, but outside of the vault, the overseer and the world, the wanderer in 1&2 is not the same as the wnaderer in 3. New Vegas' character was born in The Wastes, and has always been there.

This week they only manaed to sell 6k copies in the US,

Cataclysm is still selling 5-6k copies every week a year after launch.

And Greg? The guy who said "Forum activity is dropping because people are playing the game"? Ya, he's a PR tool, he stopped making games long ago. He was pretty good at them to. Shame

The wanderer in 2 isn't the same as the wanderer in 1 either, what's your point? The PC in NV is a nameless courier.

Calling the poilce wouldn't do much. They would monitor her emails and tap her phones and then what? Visit the individual homes and give them warnings? If one person is harassing you, then it's concentrated and can be dealt with, but when it's dozens of people, what are you really going to do that is also legally realistic?

Sorry, I type fast.

Alpha protocol didn't faulter because of bad IP. It faultered because it'sproduction budget ran out. ME3 had excatly the same issue but got cut a break, and had it's production cycle extended. DA2 wasn't so lucky and look how that turned out.

ME has always had the luxury of being able to extend its production time. It's like Blizzard wont release a bad game, they'll sooner cancel/indefinitely hold a product which is failing to meet their expectations. Valve do the same. BioWare lack the clought to do this all the time.

As such I think any new BioWare game needs to be looked at carefully, to ensure it's getting the time it needs (ME3) and not getting forced out the door (DA2).

Oh and it's funny you mention they don't count origin sales, because they said in the conference call that 40% of sales were from Origin.

Which means they sold 2.8 million and lost 1.1 million subs in the first month.

The bioware making the C&C game isn't the same bioware. And no amount of ****y people will sway my opinion on Bioware as a company. If ME3 some how turns out to be completely horrible then i'll lose some respect for them. But I don't see that happening.

So, how am I supposed to know WHICH Bioware makes a game? I didn't see any 'not the real Bioware' disclaimer on the C&C announcement.

C&C is being developed by Bioware Victory. This link can tell you some about the game:

pc.ign.com/articles/121/1214474p1.html

if I remember everything from the announcement correctly BW Victory is the old EA LA which is formerly known as Westwood Studios.

I'm refraining from calling Bioware safe.  I'll still play ME3 because I'm a completionist, but after what happened to DA2, all this aggressive DLC selling, the censorship of any dicussion about Origin, I'm going to need a little bit of convincing before I buy anything else from them.  The only thing that would entice me is DA3, but I'm cautious about that too.

As an aside if the 300 million predicted budget is true, TOR will need to maintain somewhere in the region of 2 mil + subs for nearly 2 years to break even (using WoWs subscription to profit as a comparision).
