Six thousand boxes a week post release isn't too shabby. If its keeping competitive with the sales of a major market dominator and its not even released any expansionary content yet, then it has a fair amount of potential.
And Greg was right, I stopped utilizing the TOR forums after release. There just wasn't any reason to be there. Still got both my wife and I's accounts active and we get on and do our PvP dailies every day or so and get back to waiting to see how the game sands off.
And last time I looked at the TOR forums, you couldn't keep a post on the general discussion forums front page what with all the activity.
Now if he was talking about BSN here, he probably said that because its more diplomatic than "Forum activity is dropping because the BSN appears to have attracted the most neurologically imbalanced people on the internet this side of 4chan."
Uh, ya it is pretty shabby when on it's 8th week, SWTOR sold 6k copies while Rift sold 8k on it's 8th week. Every graph, chart and statistic shows a massive decline in activity across the board
All signs point to dying, jim
Well, whatever you want to believe, its all good. Cause yanno at the end of the day, your paycheck and my paycheck don't depend on TOR not dying.
And suffice it to say the people that do depend on TOR not dying are probably smarter than you and me both so, I'm sure they'll see this "massive decline", just like you do, and do something about it.
Sorta like Blizzard did after the 60 - 90 day honeymoon phase of WoW's release was over. And their initial 650,000 subs slumped back down to around 300k.
I think largely, you're selling a lot of really talented people short. But thats okay there were tons of people that did the same thing to Blizzard in 2005 after the honeymoon was over.
Again, whatever suits you is all good though. Rift selling 8 thousand copies in its 8th week can be explained a lot of different ways. One of them being that Rift was released in the middle of a gigantic game drought where no major titles were being released and there was a huge bored group of MMO players looking for something to do...but I digress.
I don't have to defend BioWare, their portfolio speaks for itself. And even the stuff they did that wasn't so good, was better than most of the stuff that is considered "good" developed by other development houses.
So yeah, its all going down the drain man. You're right. I'm sure EA share holders are throwing themselves out of windows this very minute after having reviewed your extremely well vetted and referenced opinions.
