PHub88 says it perfectly. And some of you miss the point all together. You guys don't mind getting ripped off. This is a bloody prothiean! As PHub88 said any fan will damn want a part of this. This is too important to keep separate.
I'm not talking about buying the game used here! Buying it new should be enough! DLC is extra. It can NOT be apart of the main story and I don't care that I can finish the game without it. No wait actually I won't be able to finish the game! I need this part of the story and if you have bought the CE you feel the same. It means you should understand it's importance. This isn't just a simple piece of information!
"don't like it don't buy it" is damn right! I don't like it! I bloody hate what they did! Things from this point on will get worse. It will continue to escalate because companies care only about money. As they should. It's the prime reason they are doing anything. But to stay in business they can't constantly try to screw your customers unchecked. Just like you don't care if I buy it or not (as I said in my first sentence) I don't care what you do with your money. This isn't a call to boycott. I am stating that I won't have it! EA wants to steal from foolish/rich customers and succeed then good for them. I will wait a year untill the game drops in price dramatically. Im patient. I'll buy it used for 20 bucks and ill then download the dlc all for 30.
But I won't sail the high seas for it.
You have a funny definition of "steal". Look, I'm not going to sit here and say that EA is great. For the longest time I thought they were the "Evil Empire". I remember when their hatred among the gaming community was so strong, a gaming magazine devoted an entire cover story to them, labeling it "Evil Empire". However, it's still a business. As I said in another post, people thought it was a dirty tactic to raise games from 50 to 60 bucks. I remember the good ol' days when I only had to spend 50 dollars on a game. Now they're 10 dollars more!
People that play sports games pay 60 dollars every year for almost the same friggin' game. It's how capitalism and business works. They have to try new things and new business models. Yes, a prothean is a big deal. Did they do it to make more money? Most certainly they did. You can't blame them, however. You can cry and whine and throw a tantrum all you wish. A business is still a business. Guess what? EA won't be the last company do try this tactic. If fans pay for it, then they'll keep doing it. Don't like it? Then show them. Buy the game, but don't buy the DLC. But you think I'm going to skip out on a game I've been waiting for over 2 years to play because of some petty nonsense about Day 1 DLC? Think again.
