Just had to ask, but how come we Europeans have to wait 3 more days? I thought global releases were pretty much standard now.

Winding me up that :<

That feels relatively quick, honestly. At least, compared to Japanese games that later get released in just about any other country. Also, those of us who ordered online but are in the US may get it after the 9th anyway. Like I probably will.

Reduce activation and DLC download stress that could cause crashes???? (I don't know for certain...I've wondered why the delay for Europe as well)

Because media generally releases on Friday in Europe. No other reason than that. Happens with every major game/dvd/cd release.

It has to do with when media is generally released in your region. North America -> Tuesdays; Europe -> Thursdays (last time I checked, I'm getting ME3 on March, 8th here in Germany)

More than likey to prevent the servers from flatlining from the strain of the game release (everyone activating the game, dlc etc)

Nope wrong Zenimax had a global 11/11/11 release date. Advanced Logistics makes it possible for a rolling release. Games should have a single release date but it seems only a few publishers get the idea.

Nothing to do with marketing aswell (Microsoft spent 40 million in advertising alone) Halo 3 had it on 25th US, while europe had it on the 26th (the timezone meant it had the same launch date so european launch parties started alongside the american launch parties.

So techincally the release should be the 7th in europe but for some reason its delayed for 2 days.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. But I think one of the Devs said the reason was the difference in how North America and Europe release things. Releases in the U.S. are usually done on tuesdays. While Europe does this towards the end of the week. I'm from the States so I don't  really know how things are done in Europe. I'm just going off info I read on here somewhere.

Most games are released on Friday in Europe but there are some exceptions, I think the last Assassins creed was released on a Tuesday

The main reason is that in the US games releases are mostly on Tuesdays, and in europe they are Fridays.
Hence the 3 days delays. You'd think for once we'd get the 3 days earlier release. But I guess we should be glad to have to pay 40% more money to get it only a little later. After all, it could have been as usual, a 3 months delay :P.

My plan also, never personally tried it with Origin but it worked wonders with Steam.. as for global releases being a common thing nowadays? Not really... I can only think of two major games that launched globally last year and that's Skyrim and MW3.

The VPN thing works with origin too. Did it with BF3.

It always worked this way.
We have Friday as the usual release day. That's about it.
The tricky thing will be to avoid all internet sources in that 3 days.

Im just gonna say its very unwise to release it for some people where some dont have it. In the internet age.

Hey, us Europeans got Duke Nukem Forever earlier! The outcry of American gamers was hilarious!

But yeah, in this day and age, it's ridiculous that the game cannot be released on the same day... oh wait, it is possible, look at the Skyrim example. EA just won't bother. And to be honest, it's just three days, and at least I can get the game just before the weekend, when I have actually time to play.

Amazing how many people missed the best game of last year, TW2, which will probably be the best of 2012 on X-box too. And it was released on the same day worldwide.. except in Poland where 30,000 lucky bastards got it one day in advance because of some promotion for CDPR's homeland.

And just like with DA:Origins, which EA managed to screw up and delay release in Brazil for some 18 days of my pre-order CE, if I find a way to play ME3 (also pre-order DDE) on day 1 I most definitely will.
