It's something like the paper-based manual. A lot of people love that. Still, no one cares. I mean these became traditions for EA, traditon that they are sticking with.
Honestly, not that much of a big deal.

To the best of my knowledge it's due to how release days work. In Europe games are released on the Friday, unless something is specifically changed a la Skyrim. But the standard is Friday.

I also think that it is EA, not Bioware, that makes the call on whether to do a global release or not.

Meh, I guess i'll be tricking origin with another vpn again =/

My plan also, never personally tried it with Origin but it worked wonders with Steam.. as for global releases being a common thing nowadays? Not really... I can only think of two major games that launched globally last year and that's Skyrim and MW3.

Amazing how many people missed the best game of last year, TW2, which will probably be the best of 2012 on X-box too. And it was released on the same day worldwide.. except in Poland where 30,000 lucky bastards got it one day in advance because of some promotion for CDPR's homeland.

And just like with DA:Origins, which EA managed to screw up and delay release in Brazil for some 18 days of my pre-order CE, if I find a way to play ME3 (also pre-order DDE) on day 1 I most definitely will.

Completely forgot about the TW2, but ya hopefully it sells very well on console. CDP deserves all of it.

Because PAL regions have media releases at the end of the week rather than the beginning.

And Michael Pachter once explained it nicely.

Oh by they way, that 9th of March doesn't include all Europe countries. Some countries release the game on the 8th.

8th here and am actually not that happy with it. Problem is that the 8th is a thursday, meaning ill be -_- at work on friday, cause of "hmmm...getting awfully late here.....ok, one more mission.....four hours is more then enough sleep......****, need to take a shower first before going to work....." =]

You have to think of this way, they could release it digitally worldwide on the same day...but then brick and mortar retailers would be put out of buisiness...honestly i would just say get with the times, maintain your retailers site but remove your stores there obsolete.

What about digital downloads? Are they released on the 6th worldwide?

For most of europe at least (or all, not sure) it was march 9, but now it says march 8 everywhere instead. So it's likely we'll get it then.

edit: Digital downloads are released at the normal release time for your area, but if it goes like BF3, then if many people use VPNs and such they might release it earlier, who knows.

I don't know how is it with the rest of the Europe, but in Finland we're are going to have our packages on the 8th of March? Seems like they are changing the date in quite a many places atm. Usually with releases I have a tactic to sneak in to a perfectly normal, but big enough mall, and get my physical copy probably days ahead of release. For some reason they DGA* in large malls about release dates! And because now almost every game incorporates some form of online check I just wait it is released in some part of the world (usually US) and use vpn for activation. Simple!

I think it's bull Europe gets it later since "usually games get released on a Friday in Europe". Other companies manage fine with global release dates.

It's the other way around too sometimes, though. Nintendo often releases games here days before he US. Xenoblade Cronicles, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower come to mind too... but even I feel bad about US not getting them for months and months. Did you guys do something to Japan? Oh, wait...

SWTOR was released on the same day for both the US and Europe, if I remember right.

Although, I'm not bothered -that- much that we get it on the 9th. Gives me time to get my four assignments out of the way. :|

Hey all
I think the reason behind why america is getting it on the 6th of March and Europe,Australia and New Zealand are getting it on the 9th of March is to prevemt server overloadd and crashes from people trying out the co-op multiplayer and downloading the pre-order dlc so it makes sense to do that.

From what I understand, it has to do entirely with marketing. In Europe it seems that most people get paychecks on Fridays if I'm not mistaken. Thus, the stores want to sell items when people have money in their pocket and are ready to purchase said items. In America, sales are reported on Mondays, so by releasing on Tuesday sales reports for the first week get inflated since the game is sold for an entire week instead of just a few days. Of course, this is based purely on what I've heard from other people and not completely verified as the reasoning for it.

Dumb, and I still have to wait 3 days before I can play it while everyone else in America already has access on the 6th? How does that work?
