So as a consumer  from  Marcth 6th  forward.. I will not  be purchasing Bioware games new anymore.

Bioware is entitled to do what they want as buisness but they are not entitled to his have my money.  This whole deal feels like a move to get  an extra 10 bucks out me..

"Prothean day 1 DLC .. get him while his hot.. "
"OMG I gotta... wait a minute. "

So  I'll just pass... my money, my choice... I don't like how this was done...I don't like the message that it sends the customers. It feels like a test by EA to see  how far they can push things...  Yeah...I'll do believe I'll keep that $10

I think it says more about the consumers when they are not only willing but are angry at those who aren't.

Epic post. Makes the point so concisely.

You know I think this is a mot point. Why make yourself suffer not playing a game that you love just cause of some 10 dollar DLC. I for one am a gamer, I don't have a ton of money to through around. But 10 bucks is not that bad. If you think this is bad you should play broad games or pencil and paper RPGs. 30 bucks an add on is a lot worse. Look if you want to play the game do so. If you think they 10 dollar DLC is an insult fine don't buy the game, but realize that you are making yourself suffer and not EA. They have money rolling in off other games and they won't feel it that much.

LOL my enjoyment in life doesn't begin and end with this game.
I can afford the DLC.
Thats not the point.
I drew a line that should any game company cross than I shall not support them.
Its that simple EA and Bioware crossed that line I'm not supporting them period.
I have plenty of games I will not suffer a second without this game.

Then why complian endlessly about it? You drew the line they went over it fine, but why try to mess with others enjoyment of the game. I have paid for it and will pick it up and play it a lot and enjoy the heck out of it. Does it suck that they are doing day one DLC? Sure it sucks.  But if you think you are hurting them that much or your oppinion matters you are mistaken. They will keep on truckin and keep on doing this.

this is just a misunderstanding between you and him, where you chose to go the insulting route.

he doesnt understand why you are so easy about taking it up the wrong un without a peep.
and
you dont understand he has standards and self esteem that cause him to get irked when someone trys taking him up the wrong un

maybe he earns his money and values it more
maybe you get it as an allowance
you need to understand that earned money has more value than daddys charity

Ok. First of all I am a father of 2 and 38 years old. I work hard to keep a house running and family taken care of. If the "Daddie"s money" comment was directed at me you are way off base. I don't have a ton of money to through around on games. So I have to pick and choose what I want to play. This is the game I want I have waited for to play. If you think you are getting taken for a ride then cool. I am just tired of hearing about what wrong with this game and the disrespect to the people that work hard to make the games we play. Buy it or don't buy it. But just stop whinning about it every five seconds. Am out. Peace....:alien:

Good Points OP. But this is not a cosmetic DLC, but should be more like the Cerbus Netword in Mass Effect 2. Free DLC to new games on lauch day, needed to purchase if you picked up the game used at a latter time.

I disagree about "From Ashes". In the end, ME3 is a product. Asking for the DLC with ME3 is like asking for a pair of headphones with your laptop - you may get it, you may not. Should I boycott Dell because I don't get the headphones which were available before their newest laptop was released?

Then again, I don't like how the price some cosmetic DLC. In Mass Effect, I pay real world money for a few guns and armor. Meanwhile, Valve gives me a few hours of co-op DLC for zero dollars. Seriously, are we playing some free mobile game where equipment can only be bought with overpriced tokens? I love DLC, but I imagine the coding and effort that goes into cosmetic DLC isn't worth more than three bucks a person. Max.

Screw it; keeping my Preorder......this is NOT the end of the world. Sure, it bugs me too, but I will say I do respect the decisions of those that did cancel. Voting with your dollars = best way to show a company how you feel.

Bet half the people who say they have cancelled their preorder either:
1. Are lying
2. Will buy it the day after release after reading all the positive reviews on the forums.

Since this thread is a mere duplication of the sticky thread at top of page I will put this here too (bolded part).

They can say he is not essential, I think it is right in that regard. To me essential means required to reach the end of the game. The non-essential is personal and subjective between each person and cannot be defined as start base to work from. Everyone has different preferences to how much they wish to know and for some it will never be enough. So using 'how much information' opens a can of worms which is infinite.

In order to retain sanity you have to put in context of what is quantifiable. Starting at most basic principle is where I mentioned, can you complete the game with him or without him. From there the next step is does the game cover all the major plot points brought up in past titles and current one without him. From the developers this seems to be the case. After that point all the additional exposition is to become subjective.

Thats how I see it. I expect people will not agree with me, some for valid reasons maybe and some without.

I am curious as to why this thread exists when the very same aspects are being talked about in the thread above.

I firmly believe that 'From Ashes' wouldn't exist if there weren't a price attached to it, based off of how Bioware has stated the development process has gone.

In terms of the quality that 'From Ashes' is likely to be, however, Bioware has delivered DLC that has ranged from not-good-at-all (Pinnacle Station) and truly exceptional (Lair of the Shadow Broker). Based solely on DLC quality history, it's a toss up whether or not 'From Ashes' will be considered good DLC or bad DLC. We'll have to wait and see.

Wait and see is always a fair and reasonable way to go about making any purchase, cannot fault you for it at all.

The From Ashes DLC may be discussed in the existing Sticky thread at the top of the forum. General discussion about DLCs and games should be done in our Off-Topic forum. THank you.

End of line.
