They want it with the game. The game isn't free. Therefore they don't want it free.
Isn't logic fun?

You seem to be confused. That's exactly what they are doing.GamerrangerX wrote...

Not buying the game/DLC is a perfectly reasonable responce to underhanded business tactics.

Next, in previous bioware games, the 'additional' companion has been a free extra for anybody who bought the game new, whereas now it is only free for those who buy the collector's edition. This is why people are upset, because they feel that it is just money-milking the fanbase, nothing more or less. I don't share all those opinions, but there you have it.
It's not that they want something for free, it's that the DLC seems to be screaming that it SHOULD have been part of the main game, and having it be day-one DLC doesn't help the matter. The simple matter, is that if it should have been part of the main game, people who buy the game are entitled to it. If it wasn't meant to be part of the main game and is just an additional caveat, then they are not. Simple as that, and that's where the argument comes from. It has nothing to do with people thinking that they are entitled to free things.
The trouble bioware is faced with, is that since it is such an important race, and day-one DLC, the majority of their claims are going to fall on deaf ears, because it automatically comes off as if it is a necessary part of the game even if it's not. Not to mention that marketing the DLC on launch-day is the equivilant of saying, "you need this DLC. it is necessary for the true Mass Effect experience." That's the whole point of day-one DLC. Psychologically, it says that such DLC is important and necessary, and thus more people are likely to buy it. Basically Bioware and Ea will not be able to do ANYTHING to assauge the fears and concerns of those fans who feel that day-one DLC in this manner is blatant disrespect to the consumer.
I feel for Bioware, because I do believe that this was something they started on after main-dev was done on ME3. They aren't going to be able to convince the dissidents of this, however, especially since the whole marketing strategy of day-one DLC is to make the consumer think that such DLC is necessary for a full experience. Think of it like fries and a soda with your hamburger. They aren't necessary for your meal, but the restaurant markets them like they are, even going so far as to try and push you to buy the full meal rather than just the burger. The same thign is true here. The from ashes is NOT necessary for the true ME3 experience, but the marketing behind it wants to make consumers subconsciously think it is. This is the reason why Day-one DLC will always leave a sour taste in many fans' mouths, regardless of what the devs say.

Okay. Here's the simple answer
Actually thats an oppinion, not an answer. Some might not care about the DLC, to some it is lore/game breaking either way just because you believe you're right doesn't mean its the final answer.
